The original investigating ofcer, Botha
had to admit in the bail application that
he made mistakes with the investigation.
He was not called as a witness in the
Oscar case. Shortly after giving evidence,
he resigned fromthe police to do
security work in the private sector. He is
facing a charge of attempted murder
because he and two other police ofcers
allegedly red shots at a minibus taxi in
December 2011
Barry Roux SC
With his brilliant performance in the bail application, this
senior advocate became well known. But during the
hearing, Barry Rouxs jokes around the theme I put it to

Henke Pistorius
Henke was at the bail application, but he has
attended the hearing only once. He has,

day. During tea breaks she hugged himand
sometimes prayed with him, often in tears. She
took leave fromwork at a nancial institution

A supporter at the court asked Advocate Gerrie
Nel for his autograph that is howfamous the
Oscar case has made him. Nel has been given the
nickname bulldog for the tenacious way he
questions witnesses. This is sometimes used as
praise and sometimes as criticism
