This document describes a simple two ring combustion time fuze used in various artillery shells between 0 and 23 seconds. It has standard time rings that ignite upon firing and burn through at the set time, transferring flash to the magazine and detonating the shell. Most nations have used a version of this arrangement and functioning of the adjustable time rings, which are set prior to firing to control when the shell explodes.

It is a simple two ring combustion time
fuze with a time setting between 0 and 23 seconds. The arrangement and functioning of the time rings is a standard and most nations have used a version thereof. ACTION. Prior to firing the time rings are moved to the required time. On firing the detonator holder sets back driving the detonator onto the needle. The flash from this passes through the flash channels thus igniting the time rings. These burn through till the end of the time as set and the flash from these is transferred to the magazine. The magazine passes the flash into the shell commencing the explosion of the shell.
