FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Ellisville Police Department has conducted a year-end evaluation of the Automated
Red Light Cameras positioned at the intersections of Manchester and Clarkson, Clarkson
and Marsh, and Clarkson and Clayton. These three intersections are the predominant
problem areas of red light violators in Ellisville.

After reviewing violation and accident statistics, it was determined that following the
implementation of the red light cameras in February, 2009, violations peaked in the
month of July with 705 citations being issued for that month. Beginning in August,
violations began to decline slightly, and in November a total of 531 violations were
issued. The police department hopes to see these numbers continue to decrease in the
coming months.

In addition to the reduction of red light violations, traffic accidents also displayed a
downward trend. For the time period reported from January, 2008 through September,
2008, 37 accidents were recorded at Clarkson and Manchester Roads, five at Clarkson
and Marsh, and four at Clarkson and Clayton. In 2009 during the same time period, 20
accidents were recorded at Clarkson and Manchester, four at Clarkson and Marsh, and
two at Clarkson and Clayton. Of the three intersections, Clarkson and Manchester
showed the most significant change with a reduction of 17 accidents or approximately
46%. This safety program is considered to be a huge success and motorist awareness
appears to be the driving factor in reducing violations and accidents.
