 Abstract 
The objective of the project is to understand performance management and its effect ontoday’s corporate scenario, also understanding performance management in differentorganizations. In this project we have gone deep into the concept of performancemanagement and its impact, we have also looked into various performance appraisalmethods followed by organizations today and also looked into the performancemanagement system and processes in 2 large private sector companies known world over:Schlumberger & IFFCO group. I interviewed the HR representatives of both thecompanies and received a deep insight into how their processes work; both the companiesare of different origin, nature and type, both offering different products to the consumers.We found how the perception of both the HR representative varies along with the PMSfollowed in both the organizations.Based on personal interviews with both the HR representatives and a visit to both theorganizations I drew my results and conclusions.The interviews were taken based on a questionnaire designed to cover all aspects of  performance management to get deeper insight on individual and organizational thoughtsin the subject.
