 Preferred Location: Villages of India.

 Need: Under developed villages.

 Purpose: To begin with small scale area.


 Reason for selecting this idea: Many people use
mobile phones and cannot charge.

 Rs.5 spent per person for charging a mobile phone.

 Spend over Rs.1.5k or more per annum on


kerosene.

 Smoke leads to pollution and CO2 emission.

 LegalStatus: Huskicity Pvt. Ltd is a
partnership firm involving 3 partners.

 Development stage: Its in initial stage. Will


expand in other rural villages.

 Company funding: Personal savings of 3


partners and rest from borrowings and
grants.

 Rice husk ash has 80-90% of Silica SiO2.

 Precipitated silica has wide variety of uses.

 Separation of silica from rice husk ash reduces ash


disposal.

Scope

 Rice-India’s staple food, so husk is abundant.

 Husk is either fed to cattle or used with firewood.

 Milling: 78% rice and 22% husk.

 A rise in crude oil price may increase the price of


kerosene and diesel.

 1.5 kgs of rice husk provides 1 kWh of electricity.

 Mini power plants can render 35-100 kWh of electricity.

 Villagers can save 50% of money.

 Smoke from burning used to run engine.

 200 tonnes of emissions of carbon can be saved.

 Less than Rs.50 crores of investment.

 Using a 60 watt light bulb for one hour consumes
0.06 kWh of electricity.

 60 watt light bulb is on for one hour per day for 30


days, the energy used is:
60 W × 30 h = 1800 W·h = 1.8 kW·h

1.8 kWh per bulb per house for 1 month.

So 2 bulbs per house for 3 hours each for 1 month


will give 21.6 kWh per house per month!

 So 21.6 (=22) kWh units of power if charged Rs.2.5
per unit will yield Rs.55/-

 Including tax and others, we can charge Rs. 70-80/-


for 22 kWh per month.

 Profit of Rs. 7-10 per house per month!

 Security deposit of Rs.250/- per house will be


charged on a 80% refund basis i.e. Rs. 200 refund.
Slab rate
 Power consumed: 0-15 kWh p.m, Rs. 1.8 per kWh.

 Power consumed: 15-30 kWh p.m, Rs. 2.5 per kWh.

 Power consumed: 30+ kWh p.m, Rs. 3.5 per kWh.
