Re: Oil Refining - Considering future eventualities versus the myopia of the present (letter #15)
Dear Members of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources,
You have not responded to any of my 14 letters on this subject from February 15 to June 21
in which I have explicitly and comprehensively requested you to call CEOs of petroleum
production and refining corporations to a hearing to investigate prospects of their becoming
unprofitable and going out of business in view of sustained low international market prices.
Your response is requested. Ive provided a multiple choice survey for your convenience:
I share your concern oil companies may go out of business if oil prices remain low
I am not concerned that oil companies may go out of business if prices remain low
I doubt that CEOs and Boards of Directors will act in the Public and National Interest
I always trust CEOs and Boards of Directors to act in the Public and National Interest
I agree, in these times, U.S. oil companies must be treated as National Resources
I agree that oversight of oil company decisions is in the Public and National Interest
I agree that Congress should clearly define Public Interest and National Interest
Please indicate your opinions and beliefs. Return in the stamped self-addressed envelope.
Sincerely yours,
Doug Grandt
