The Employment Readiness Program

your job search campaign.
The Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) Steering Committee met on 3 February 2010 to discuss the issues
from the AFAP Conference held on 9 December 2009 at the FHCC. Of the top 17 issues briefed to the
Commander, eleven of those issues were closed by the committee. The remaining issues will be reviewed by
the committee monthly until all of the issues have been resolved.
Issues Resolution

(8) Recycling program at Fort Hamilton. There are vending machines to recycle items by the
PX. Funding cannot support a residential recycling
program.

(9) Post-wide employee break/lunch room. The chapel will provide room for people to eat their
lunch when necessary.

(10) Tuition Reimbursement and Assistance for There are no tuition assistance programs offered to
DOD Civilians. our civilian population and workforce by the Army
Continuing Education System (ACES).

(11) Commissary and Post Exchange Privileges for DOD regulates Commissary access. DOD civilian
DOD Civilians. employees who reside on post are authorized limited
PX privileges.

SURVIVOR OUTREACH SERVICES

ACS at Fort Hamilton is pleased to present Survivor Outreach


Services. SOS is an Army initiative to demonstrate its
commitment to Families of the Fallen. SOS will provide
assistance and offer support to Families by providing integrated
support and referral services. SOS serves as the long term
support for Survivors, conducts support groups, Survivor
events, briefings to the community and the leadership and
provides supportive counseling.

ACS provides personal financial readiness,
consumer affairs prevention and education programs for Soldiers,
Family Members, National Guard, Reserve Components,
Retirees and Family Members.
We assist Unit Commanders and Leaders in training Soldiers and
Family Members in personal financial
readiness. Topics covered are Principles of Personal Finance,
Planning and Budgeting, Banking and
Checking, Using Credit Wisely, Getting Insurance, Saving and Investing,
Making Large Purchases, Consumer
Scams, and Housing Market Crisis (Foreclosures).

ARMY EMERGENCY RELIEF helps the following:


•Soldiers on Active Duty and their dependents.
•Members of the Reserve Components of the Army on continuous Active Duty
For more than 30 days and their dependents. (This applies to soldiers on AD

•Retired Soldiers, either due to longevity or physical disability.
•Widows and orphans of Soldiers who died while on AD or while retired.
Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is a
mandatory enrollment program that works with other
military and civilian agencies to provide comprehensive
and coordinated community support, housing,
educational, medical and personnel services to Families
with special needs. An EFM is a family member (child
or adult) with any physical, emotional, developmental
or intellectual disorder that requires special treatment,
therapy, education, training or counseling. Respite care
is available for Families or caregivers.
