Business Card
Description:Create a business card using Illustrator
and InDesign
Process: I started out with some basic triangle
shapes and messed around with my business card
design for a while. I finally decided on a mountain
type shape seeing as I live in the pacific northwest.
I paired that with a nice complementary brick color
for the background. Then I made some basic arrow
shapes to design my personal logo.

Letterhead
Description: Create a letterhead using Illustrator
and InDesign
Process: Using the designs I had created for my
business card, I took my logo and pasted it to a
blank document. I then took the mountatin design
and placed it at the bottom with a low opacity.
Last, I created a banner across the top of the page
that led to my contact information.

Logos
Description: Using Illustrator and create three
unique logos for any business, place, or product.
Process: I started out knowing I wanted all three
logos to have the same basic shape, but represent
different aspects of Portland. I used the pen tool
to make basic shapes that didnt have any fill just an
outline. Then I found a few good texts to use that I
thought represented the message I wanted to portray with my Portland logos.

Objective: Create three logos that represent the essence of Portland, Oregon

Montage
Description: A montage of two or more images to
promote a spiritual message.
Process: Using photoshop I took an image from
google and added it to the background of a photo
I took last week for the photodesign project. I made
the photo of the girl black and white and only used
very few other photoshop edits on the original picture. I then copied the trees on top of the first layer
and gradually painted away the trees from her portrait. Then just to focus the eye a bit I sharpened the
girl and blurred the trees. Last I added text to the
foreground.

togehter in creating a spiritual message.

Imaging
Description: For this project I took a simpler approach to display a positive quote about the gospel.
Process: When choosing my color scheme I noticed
that the area I was photographing had a lot of green
so that made choosing a color scheme for the photograph a bit more difficult. My solution to that was
to made the background black and white and emphasize the red. I then added the quote in the lead
space that the girl was looking towards.

use them in design layouts.

Flier
Description: Create a simple, black and white flier
using InDesign
Process: I used the box tool to layout my picture,
title, and text boxes to get a feel of the flow. After
I had my basic shapes down, i first started with my
title.I found the contrasting texts i wanted. I used a
sans serif text for my body copy. I then laid out the
rest of my required elements in a way that was simple and not too big, so I had a nicely shaped white
space. Then I thought to add the three boxes on
each corner to create some diagonal asymmetry.

Brochure
Description: Brochure for a surfing event.
Process: The first thing I did when I figured out what
my theme was design a logo in Illustrator. I wanted the
text of the logo to match the name of the event so I
designed the Wave text and then broke up the letters
so I could move them in a wave shape. Then I edited my front page photo to focus more on the surfer. I
painted over the photo with a color selector. The rest
of my brochure design was done in InDesign, with the
exception of clipping the surfer photo in photoshop. I
added a few shapes to guide the eye from text to text.

Web Page
Description: Create a web page describing the
process of designing an original logo
Process: Creating a simple web page was challenging. Coding the exact words and phrases together is a very distinct puzzle and if you get just
a single piece wrong or put it somewhere other
than where its supposed to go the web page
wont create.

Event Ad
Description: This event ad is for a bike ride on the
Pacific Coastal Highway
Process: I scanned and cropped the picture adding a few color and image changes to it. I then
decided to lay very large text and turn down the
opacity of that text in order to stil focus on the
background picture. I added the title of the event
first then started trying out how different shapes
looked next to it.
