Rogers Park
By John Paul Garcia
Segregation?
 According to the Google dictionary
Segregation is defined as a social system that
provides separate facilities for minority
groups.
 So is segregation the right word to describe

Rogers Park?
 No
 A better word would be diverse.
Diversity
 Rogers Park in a nut shell is diverse.
 I know my photo essay was based on what I

thought was segregation in my

neighborhood.
 But as I did some research I realized I was

wrong.

What does this Mean?
 Diversityworking.com says: Although Chicago
as a whole is made up of relatively equal
parts white, black and Latino with a growing
Asian population, many neighborhoods boast
a dominant racial or ethnic identity.
 Those stats just proved this point within the

neighborhoods in Chicago.
 One dominant race except in Rogers Park.
Why should you care?
 So what if Rogers Park is Diverse its just one
neighborhood right?
 True, but if more neighborhoods were like

Rogers Park peoples minds would be more

open to people rather than there race.
