The Neurotics Anonymous Test of Mental and Emotional Health

This test is intended to help individuals evaluate their mental and emotional health. It was developed by members
of Neurotics Anonymous (NAIL), the predecessor organization of Emotions Anonymous (EA). Validity and
reliability studies have not been done on this instrument, and it should not be considered a scientific tool; it's only a
test that NAIL and EA members have found useful. It is obvious what the “best” answers are; a score of 100% is
considered untenable. The usefulness this test depends completely on the honesty of the individual taking it.

Test taking guidelines:

1. Read each item on the right carefully.

2. Check “Yes” if the item is true for you, check “No” if the item is false for you, and check “Sometimes” if
the item is sometimes true for you.
3. Be honest.

Scoring
Count up the "Yes" answers and the "Sometimes" answers. "No" answers have no value (count as zero). Multiply
the count of the "Yes" answers by two. Add the number of "Sometimes" answers to that value; this sum is your
score. Higher scores indicate better mental and emotional health. A score of 50 is considered average.
