PRESS RELEASE

After conferring with supporters from around the State, I have decided not to be a
candidate for governor in this election cycle. While my message of fiscal restraint and
proven track record as the Mayor of one of the State’s most financially vibrant and
livable cities has clearly resonated, I have reluctantly decided that now is not the time
for me to run for governor. The trial of James Botti and the long-term federal
investigation of the City of Shelton were difficult for Shelton residents and public officials
in this City, including me. The integrity of our system of government in Shelton was put
on trial. Even with the trial over, the disruption in costs will linger. The people of
Shelton and its public officials should be proud of all that has been accomplished in the
past several years. I look forward to building on that success.

Finally, I would like to thank the thousands of people across the State that have
signed my petition and the hundred-plus volunteers that have worked on my behalf. It
will be my goal in the coming years to be involved in improving government for a better
Connecticut.
