sports and recreational activities
occur throughout the year.
The Lambton County Regional
Trails system allows active
transportation enthusiasts the
opportunity to experience the
natural assets of our community.
Fresh and locally sourced
produce can be found at area
farmers’ markets and some
orchards allow visitors to pick
their own produce.
Theatre productions in Petrolia,
Sarnia, and the Grand Bend
area are bursting with talent
while Lambton’s museums
recount stories from our rich
past, including tales from the
oil industry whose roots, going
back more than 150 years, can
be found right here in Lambton
County. Of course, visitors
will also want to expand their
relationship with the visual arts
by visiting the world class Judith
& Norman Alix Art Gallery in
downtown Sarnia. For an infusion
of music, colour, and tradition,
check out the many special
events that take place at local
Indigenous communities.

What does a perfect beach day look like to you?

Parasailing over 1000 feet in the air? Bouncing dad off of
a giant water trampoline? How about sinking your toes
into sand so soft it’s been certified as some of the world’s
best? If you’re looking for the ultimate beach experiences,
you’ve come to the right coast.

Just look for the Blue Flag. When you see a
Blue Flag flying, you know a beach or marina
is clean and accessible, has great water
quality, meets high safety standards and is
working hard to protect local shorelines and
ecosystems. There are only 26 Blue Flag
beaches in all of Canada, and Ontario’s Blue
Coast is home to two.
If peaceful relaxation is what you’re after,
look no further than Canatara Beach, Sarnia.
Stretching nearly a kilometre along the
shores of Lake Huron near the mouth of the

Looking to set sail on some of the bluest waters this side
of the equator? Just head west. Cruise into our waters on
your own boat and dock at one of our many marinas,
(two of which are Blue Flag status) or borrow one from
one of our many friendly outfitters when you arrive.
Yachting is highlighted by the annual Port
Huron to Mackinac Race in July. The shore
is lined with thousands of enthusiastic
onlookers and the river filled with a parade
of boats, as fabulous world-class yachts sail
out to their starting points in the lake. Sailing
enthusiasts can take part in the annual
Sailfest Regatta, one of the many events
hosted by the vibrant sailing community at
the Sarnia Yacht Club.
When you’re ready to call it a night, dock your
boat at some of the friendliest marinas in the
Great Lakes. Both Sarnia Bay Marina and
Bridgeview Marina located in Point Edward
offer every amenity needed to enjoy your
summer home away from home.

When you’re blessed with waterfront parks, beaches, and
National Geographic-ranked sunsets as your backdrop,
there’s a lot to celebrate. Whenever our communities
come together, two things are for certain; you can always
find live music and delicious food.
It’s been said we know how to throw a
great music festival. Thousands gather at
Sarnia Bay to hear the top country music
acts across North America at Bluewater
Borderfest, while the Port Huron to Mackinac
Boat Race is celebrated weekend-long with
the annual Bridge Bash under the Blue Water
Bridge. You can find free folk, jazz, and blues
concerts on the beach every week in the
summer at Summer Sunset Sounds, and our
Canada Day celebrations have won many
awards.
Our arts and culture celebrations always
pack a venue, too. Some 25,000 visitors
attend the annual cultural walkabout Artwalk
in downtown Sarnia each June, while

Devonian-era fossil deposits, spectacular waterfalls, and

Pinery Provincial Park is southern Ontario’s
largest and most ecologically diverse natural
environment, with over half a million visitors
annually. It is also the largest remaining
example of Oak Savannah ecosystem left in
North America. Fronting on Lake Huron, this
6000 acre paradise offers over 9 kilometres
pristine beach, some of the oldest and most
spectacular sand dunes in North America,
and some 32 species of mammals, 60 different
species of butterflies and 300 species of
birds.
Nature enthusiasts and hikers can enjoy 10
different nature trails; cyclists can explore
15 different cycling trails, and in the winter
the park becomes a haven for cross-country
skiers, offering 38 kilometres of ski trails.

Buxton National Historic Site & Museum
Located in the small community of North
Buxton, near Chatham Ontario is a historic
site that is an integral part of the rich black
history story featuring the Elgin Settlement.
This settlement founded by Rev. William King
was home to one the province’s largest black
settlements. The museum provides personal
histories and genealogies of the original
settlers and their descendants. Every Labour
Day weekend at the Museum site its the

Uncle Tom’s Cabin Historic Site
Near the town of Dresden Ontario stands
Uncle Tom’s Cabin Historic Site. The museum
is built on the site of the Dawn settlement that
was founded in part by Rev. Josiah Henson in
1841. Thousands of people make pilgrimages
to the site annually to discover more about
the past. Every year this site celebrates
Emancipation Day in August. For more
