Cultural Heritage (As seen through the window of the hearts of Tribu Bugsay- Palawod-Mangagoy National High School’s Contingent to the Karawasan Festival 2005)
Bisliganon culture is shaped by diverse ethnicity through
out its self-carved history. Ancient culture was predominantly Manobo in origin but centuries of intermingling with ancestral friends brought about by its unique sagacity of friendliness, warmth and inherent sense of hospitality left its indelible mark on its rich cultural heritage.
This kaleidoscope of rare richness of culture inspires
Tribu Bugsay-Palawod to set into the arena of festivity a unique dance depicting this renowned tradition of celebrating life. It is but righteous to portray its roots as in our veins flows the blood of a Bisliganon proud of its ancestry. More than its echoing beats of the gongs and intricate dance steps is the responsibility of promoting what is Bislig “ought to be”.
Tribu Bugsay-Palawod portrays in this dance the only
one of its kind staging of the way of life of every Bisliganon. Featured on this are its Rituals, Mysterious Phenomena, Love of Nature, and Livelihood especially on its very rich marine resources.
To emphasize its special feature as a “CITY BY THE
BAY” the group used “KARAWASAN”; a sea harvest belonging to a crab family as the centerpiece of representation of the City’s continuing journey towards inevitable exodus of development. The development, which will stunned its global neighbors in the near future for its productive pacing towards escalation as the “Karawasans”.
