Dear cyclist, As both an avid cyclist and candidate for Governor of Texas, I support the safety of the Texas cycling community. In 2009, Governor Perry vetoed the Safe Passing bill (S.B. 488) that would have provided cyclists increased protection from motor vehicles. As your governor, I will sign the Safe Passing bill, and I will work with lawmakers and the cycling community to protect cyclists in Texas. As Houston’s mayor, I helped found the Tour de Houston and I added miles of new hike and bike trails along Houston’s many bayous.
