Independent media already fact checked two claims

similar to claims Perry’s repeats in new ad

Perry’s Ad: “We’ve created more than 850,000 jobs, more than all the other states combined.”

“By excluding all states with net job losses -- regardless of any job gains in those states -- the Texas share of
total new jobs in the U.S. was overblown, even "laughable," he said. ‘To say it's misleading is to be kind,’
Brandi said. ‘It's just not true.’”
Politifact, Perry claims Texas accounted for 70 percent of the country's new jobs between November 2007
and November 2008

For example, from December 2000 to March 2007, Florida added at least 909,200 jobs. We’re pretty sure other
states created jobs during the last decade as well even if recent jobs losses have resulted in net job losses for the states.

Perry’s Ad: “We’ve cut taxes for small business.”

“Perry’s reference to cutting taxes for small businesses harkens to a proposal he signed last year raising the
annual income threshold for businesses subject to the state’s retooled business franchise tax from $300,000 to
$1 million. Thanks to the action, more than 130,000 businesses were exempted from the tax, including almost
40,000 that had to pay the tax in 2008 and 2009, according to the state comptroller’s office.”

“Perry's ad doesn't mention that on his watch, more than 940,000 businesses were subject to the revamped tax
as of 2008, up from more than 692,000 businesses subject to the old version in 2007, according to the state
comptroller's office.”

Additionally, Rick Perry doesn’t mention that payroll tax rates for many small businesses have nearly doubled
in the last year.
