Job Description
Job Title:
Science Teacher with ESL endorsement
Premier HS of Del Rio
Reports to:
Primary Purpose:
Teaches and facilitates learning for students, maintaining academic progress, discipline and records. Works with parents andstudents to provide and implement individualized education to meet the needs of all students.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed beloware representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals withdisabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education and/or Experience
Must be Highly Qualified (HQ) with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B.A.or B.S.) from four-year college or university. Inaddition to the four year degree a passing score on the TExES in the subject is required for Highly Qualified Status.
Certification in subject to be taught is another option for Highly Qualified status. Teacher Certification is recommended but notrequired.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of federal and state education law Ability to understand the individual needs of studentsUnderstanding of goal setting for students and the individualized approachGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to communicate with all levels of students and their parents Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and dataStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills A general knowledge of the computer, and must be able to learn and implement OdysseyWare curriculum softwareprogram and instruct students on utilization. Ability to work with children, passion for children, patience is a plus, ability to transition with changes.
Teaching experience in the public school setting preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional and Program Management
 Administers Diagnostic Tests to determine a student’s performance level and a
ssigns curriculum accordingly2.
Prepares academic projections for all students 9
grade and higher and prepares a course of study following curriculumguidelines or requirements of state and school3. Instructs and motivates students in all course study4. Assigns lessons and corrects homework
