ESSAY CONTEST
Keeping the third goal in mind, we are looking for a recently Returned Peace Corps Volunteer to share the story of how their Peace
Corps experience influenced their life and the lives of those around them. You can do this by bringing the world back home on a
grand scale – a once in a life time opportunity to share your thoughts, your work and your experience with the largest gathering of
returned volunteers in 50 years.
Tax Preparers: Help to raise a family's income by $6,000. One doesn't have to be a professional accountant, just have the know-how
in completing an income tax return, or know how to do one's own taxes. They receive 12 hours of free training, broken up in 3 four-
hour sessions that occur throughout January, and IRS Certification.
Savings Promoters: Help families use their refunds in more pragmatic ways to move up the economic ladder. Promoters will receive
4 hours of interactive training to enable them to help clients save their refunds, enroll in Money Management classes and financial
coaching, learn about Bank on DC, and even open direct deposit accounts!
Spanish-speakers are needed in both cases as well. To learn more about their work and to register for the campaign, go to
www.dceitc.org.
