AWESOME!!! Now what?

PLANNING OUR FINAL

Today we will...

1. Learn about using VIEWFINDERS as a strategy for

creating a composition from a still life
2. Create our own individual viewfinders
3. Make sure our narrative assemblages are finished
and spray painted completely
4. Make 3 thumbnail sketches to prepare for our
final project - each one should consider a
different SIZE, VIEW, and/or PLACEMENT
VIEWFINDERS

1. Create a border around the piece of tagboard I give

you (tracing a ruler is a really easy way to do this!)

2. Mark inches along one long side and one short side

2. When marking inches, think about it like a graph in
math class. PICK ONE CORNER to be your zero,
then WORK OUTWARDS from there

3. Cut it out to make two “L” shapes

4. Use your measurements to make a 3” x 4” opening

WHAT SHOULD I DO?
1. Have 3 thumbnail sketches!
2. Choose the one you think is the most
INTERESTING!
3. Show it to me!
4. Start mapping out your final:
• use paper on tall desk (9x12 or 12x16)
• use LIGHT lines
• map out (outline) all the colors & changes in
value - even if they seem “weird”
• number the ones that are the same
