About New7Wonders Millions of students took part in the campaign to choose the Official New 7 Wonders
of the World that were announced on July 7, 2007. More than 100 million votes
selected 7 sites to represent our global cultural heritage: The Great Wall of China,
Petra in Jordan, Mexico’s Chichén Itzá, the Statue of Christ Redeemer in Rio de
Janeiro, the Colosseum in Rome, Peru’s Machu Picchu and the Taj Mahal in India.
More than 6,000 schools and even more individual kids from countries everywhere
participated in the campaign, which was the world’s first-ever global election.
