Job Description - MSCOO (multi-country)
This job description is for the position of MSCOO (multi-country) supporting a c
luster of countries for Airtel Africa. There are four clusters:
* Ghana & West Africa
* DRC & Central Africa
* East Africa (MC only)
1. Position:
The purpose of the role MSCOO (multi-country) is to manage activities carried ou
t within the Managed Capacity and Managed Services contracts for Airtel Africa.
This involves management of staff, ensuring that services are delivered accordin
g to agreed contracts (follow-up on set KPIs), involvement (or responsibility) i
n budget activities and working on improving the organisational efficiency, proc
esses and methods within the relevant area.
The activities are carried out within the Managed Services Telecom Operations Pr
actice (MS TOP) area.
The MSCOO (multi-country) reports to the overall MSCOO for Airtel Africa.
2. Key Responsibilities:
The MSCOO (multi-country) works within the overall MSIP organization for Airtel
Africa with a delegated set of responsibilities for the geography they are accou
ntable.
The MSCOO (multi-country) is responsible for full scope of the Managed Capacity
and Managed Services (where applicable) contract fulfillment, including:
* Overall Operations - Operations Assurance
* Overall Network Operations Centre - NOC Manager, including Front Office an
d Back Office
* Operations Support
* Field Operations
* Planning & Design
* Deployment
These functions will initially reside within the line organization of the MSCOO
(multi-country) until transformation to RSSA and GSC delivery units according to
the Transformation Plan. After transformation, the MSCOO (multi-country) still
maintains full accountability for the success of the service delivery.
The MSCOO (multi-country) is responsible and a driver/facilitator for improvemen
ts within the relevant Managed Capacity/Services organisation and must take resp
onsibility for any changes introduced to the organisation, processes and methods
that may have an effect on the supplied service quality with respect of meeting
contracted scope (including quality).

Some duties of the blueprint MSCOO role will be centralized within the MSIP Airt
el Africa organization (eg: common reporting, quality auditing).
3. Authorization:
3.1 Budget:
* The MSCOO (multi-country) has Budget Responsibility as determined by the o
verall MSCOO Airtel Africa.
3.2 Major decisions:
* The MSCOO (multi-country) has the authority to act on relevant problems an
d to decide on what procedures and routines that shall be invoked to ensure that
quality problems are corrected according to prevailing requirements.
* The MSCOO (multi-country) has the authority to specify improvement proposa
l for operative performance and to escalate within the department / group as wel
l as to system support units / supplier partner functions so that operative perf
ormance may be maintained at specified level.
1.3 IS/IT access:
* The MSCOO (multi-country) requires full access to the Ericsson Corporate N
etwork (ECN) and the IS/IT network (if different from ECN) within the Network Op
erations Centre.

Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
* University degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication,
Business Administration or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
* Experience with the Airtel Managed Capacity model
* Having at least 10 years experience on network operations, planning or eng
ineering. At least 3 years of experience from Customer Services within the Telec
om industry
* Demonstrated ability to deliver P&L results successfully in a major servic
es division or company, and ability to drive business development
* Proven Business awareness and successful customer relation experience
* Leadership experience of organizations with significant size and complexit
y" and leadership of change management programs
Certification:
* All candidates for MS COO positions should be certified as 'Ready Now' in
the Services Executive Assessment Centre Program which incorporates a Level 3 Le
adership Assessment with a Roles related Professional Assessment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ensure the fulfillment of all contractual obligations by Ericsson, the c
ustomer and third parties in order to secure quality of service and profitabilit

· Be the main interface for all service delivery towards the customer and
be responsible to establish and maintain effective Governance processes in close

Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

* Minimum of 15 years experience with a combination of the following:
* Technical and Operational Management
* Financial and Business Management
* Customer Relationship and Business Development
* Leadership and change Management Experience.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver P & L results successfully in a major serv
ices division or company and
* ability to drive business development.
* Leadership experience in a large "line" organization and significant exper
ience with change management programs.
* Effective interpersonal, presentation and communication skills. Strong ab
ility to build relationships with customers and within Ericsson.
* Strong planning and organization skills.
* Effective leadership skills.
* High level solution understanding of services, networking and products.
* Experience in managing diverse teams both in a line and a matrix environme

1 Responsibilities
1.1 Process responsibilities
The Operations Consultant is typically working with activities associated to the
(R-FAB) Readiness, Fulfillment, Assurance and Billing process or with the Outso
urcing Business Process (OBP) area.
The activity areas that the Operations Consultant is typically involved in vary
but the main areas that the Operations Consultant would work within are 'Network
Operations SME' and 'Processes and Interfaces SME'. The activities mean involve
ment in Outsourcing and EOT Feasibility Studies and Proposal Development, Due Di
ligence, Establish Execution, Transition Execution, Transformation Execution, Tr
ansfer Execution and Audits.
1.2 Functional responsibilities

2 Authorization
2.1 Budget
The Operations Consultant has no budget responsibility.
2.2 Major decisions
The decisions made by the Operations Consultant depend on the area of involvemen
t. The following main decisions are identified, but the scope may be wider depen
ding on the project/assignment that the Operations Consultants is involved in.
As a 'Network Operations SME' and / or 'Processes and Interfaces SME' the Operat
ions Consultant shall have the authority to propose/decide on the best and most
efficient Managed Services solution including items such as organizational set-u
p, choice of delivery organization and dimensioning of the delivery organization
. Once the solution is approved, the Operations Consultant has the authority to
implement the Managed Services solution. The Operations Consultant also has the
authority to make recommendations (e.g. toll gate recommendations) after/during
Managed Services project assessments.

2.3 IS/IT access
The Operations Consultant requires full access to the Ericsson Corporate Network
(ECN).
