You have accessed the files in this file folder in www.box.com, which are open and free to public. This is where Im uploading several files, all belonging to the work of I.R.E.N.T. (or IRENT). Also uploaded on www.scribd.com/ounbbl . You may also see another folder Other useful collections, where some useful files may be found.
Introductory Notes to I.R.E.N.T. is uploaded as a separate file. Notes on Vocabulary is moved to Introductory Notes. Attached is the file How to read the pages of IRENT translation Attached to each Gospel is the file Supplement: Calendars Systems and Passion Week Timeline.

I.R.E.N.T., an acronym of Invitation to Read in English New Testament, is rendered and presented to come to the readers clearer to understand yet closer to the original text as possible.

The text rendering itself as well as the format Kept especially in mind is (1) for those who have had no exposure to the NewTestament, put it off, or even avoided it, and (2) for those who have English as their second language.

Faithfully reflecting the socio-cultural setting of the original audiences, it scrupulously avoids anachronistic expressions, as called Christianese, Biblish, church jargon, however useful they may be (as to read back the modern religious experiences into the text often to distort the meaning).

This work is primarily a product of linguistic and literary approach, not of canonical and doctrinal. It intends to bring the readers into the historical setting people and place. As such its usefulness should prove to be for anyone. It assumes that the reader has a modicum of proficiency in English and is willing to keep going on learning, since it refuses to have settled at such easy reading level as often seen in recent translations tends to dumb down the readers. Special attention has been given to the text rendering as well as the text format to come to aid to readability and comprehensibility, even for oral reading (reading-aloud).

This work-in-progress is a work undertaken by a single person. It is possible only by standing on the shoulders of those who have endeavored through the millennia. In this, Im painfully aware that a danger in such effort is not the fact that I don't know; but rather it is this: I don't know that I myself don't know. Being a personal work, it is also a confession. This is an invitation, but also a challenge for the readers so that they would challenge back. Be invited and be challenged! The work itself needs to be challenged from the readers.

Updating: Updating is reflected in the release version number (in the file name itself or on the top of the first page). Always check for the latest one to download and read. The last digits reflect minor interval change. A change in first digit will reflect a substantial change overall. Updating is more frequent for the Gospels.

I.R.E.N.T. files uploaded in this location: This folder on www.box.com contains the Readers Editions only. All is subject to frequent updating. This online serial, READ I.R.E.N.T., will be in four volumes: Vol. I - The Four Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles Vol. II Non-Pauline Epistles Vol. III - Pauline Epistles Vol. IV- The Revelation. A single issue of each Gospel will come in several files: 1. Readers Edition text, footnotes and minimal end-notes. 2. Study Ready Edition text, footnotes, end-notes, and Appendix 3. Supplement Greek NT text and Interlinear Greek-English text. In addition, among other material, Introduction to the Four Gospels is to be uploaded where material common in the four Gospels is consolidated in one place.

Notes on typography:

A note on typography
Those pronouns for the second person (thou, thy, thine, ye) do wonderful job of helping the readers to differentiate singular and plural. Their loss in modern English usage is linguistically painfully sad. Several English translations employ various typographical device to show the plural nature of you, your, your: E.g. YOU in small caps in NWT; youp (here p is in subscript italic and gray colored) in ALT; you+ (here + is superscript) in UPDV. In IRENT, in case of plural pronouns, u is replaced by a special character . Since this will not by itself distinguishable from the singular, when the context is sensitive, the word yo-all or yall is used. The only problem I have with this typographic solution is that the word and phrase cannot be searched within MS Word unless this specific character is entered. Search in PDF has not been affected, as these characters seem to be ignored.
