Mile High Horror Film Festival Intern Duties:

Thank you for your interest in The Mile High Horror Film Festival’s
Internship Program! We’re very excited to get this program up and running
for a unique learning experience for college students!
Working at a Film Festival is invaluable for Filmmakers as it really gives you an
idea of what festival juries are looking for and what audiences want. Exposing
yourself to different independent films is always an advantage in the film world!
Not a filmmaker? Meet some industry big wigs and diversify your profile with
some niche festival experience! It’s certainly eye catching on a resume!

The Details:
Internship Runs from June 1st- After the festival is wrapped (Oct. 10th).

Interns are committed to 5hours a week until mid-September, when they would be
required to put in 15 hours a week, minimum. 5 hours a week may not always be
needed, but should be allotted.

Interns are NOT paid but will receive school credit for their program as well as all
access to films during the festival.

Interns will have three main areas of work that are interchangeable:

MARKETING/SPONSORSHIP/GUERILLA WORK-

Duties:

 Hanging, distributing flyers throughout your own school/neighborhood as

well as other close by schools and neighborhoods.
 Updating social media, blog writing and tweeting, as well as contacting free
media spaces such as yourhub.com and posting events.
 Attending to sponsor’s needs.

OFFICE WORK/ FILMS

Duties:

 Tending to jury while watching films.

 Logging films coming in/entered in festival
 Helping to organize volunteers and volunteer duties.
“ON THE DAY” FESTIVAL TIME!

Duties:

 Tending to Talent
 Helping set up/tear down
 Act as a go between festival workers
 Ensuring volunteers know what they’re doing
 Ensuring sponsors are satisfied

Another exciting opportunity is open to more senior students is to be a festival

cinematographer, where students will shoot on location during the festival and
edit these videos themselves. Their work will be used all year long and will make a
great addition to professional reels and will be seen by submitting filmmakers,
new and established for future festivals. We’re looking for professional work and
these positions will be competitive with a required recommendation from a
professor.

If an Intern has a special area of interest, then they can voice it to either Theresa or
Jenny and we will try to accommodate reasonable requests. We want you to learn
what you want to learn; however, sometimes yah got to do some grunt work too!

This is a great opportunity to learn and grow with a new festival!
