SHOPPING is my passion. For me, this exotic island called Singapore is synonymous with shopping. When
you say “Singapore” to an overseas person, they automatically think “Orchard Road” and the many shopping
opportunities it has to offer. Not surprisingly, Singapore is fondly called the Paradise of Shopping. There are
some awesome areas that make Singapore one of the most sought-after destinations. I’ve been in Singapore
for more than 8 years and I have come to know some of the best places that provide good items at good prices
and that are good quality. The trick however, is being a good careful bargainer. I would like to share my
shopping secrets. And here the shopping places I had been visited.

Orchard Road >>this place has some of the biggest malls in Singapore. You can get all the items like stylish
clothes, electronic goods, cosmetics, shoes, furniture or anything else you are looking for. Bargaining is not an
option, high n fixed price recommended.

 Centre Point >>this one is the most popular shopping hub in Singapore. There are stores that have
special collections of electronics, furnishing, classical music, optical equipment, fine arts and of course
casual clothing.

 Vivo City >>this is one of the biggest shopping malls of Singapore .at this place one can find all the
major brands from all across the globe.

 The Heeren >>an ideal place for music lovers. The biggest super store HMV is situated in the
heeren. You can also enjoy some mouth-watering cuisine at this shopping junction.

 Bugis Street >>if you are good at bargaining, then this the shopping destination for you.

 Little India >>a place to find Indian handicrafts and anything that is inspired by Indian culture.

 Chinatown >>here one can find beautifully embroidered kimonos, clothes, jewelry, and traditional
crafts. Inspired by Chinese culture.
 Sim Lim Square >>the heaven of electrical and electronic goods, computer software and hardwares
but you need to be careful to check everything about price and getting all items listed.
 Arab street >>mainly deals in clothes, textile and material.

There are many more shopping malls where I have found but cannot cover fully here. Most girls love to shop.
Sometimes it can be very tiring but shopping is an awesome experience when you get that bargain! :

However you also must be careful of being cheated by unscrupulous sales people. I’ve experienced it myself
when I bought some clothes in Bugis Street. The price seemed quite fair .I thought it was a good price but after

Short story by Nessa Kartika

"Can you go home?" Ask Ratna to Asih on the phone that afternoon.
Home, suddenly sound very painful in the Asih's heart, even very scary. Some more, out of Ratna's lips.
Singapore, warm with the sun shining every day never ends. Place where thousands of dreams for the Domestic foreign
worker from Indonesia, just like her. The country that has made her sacrifices everything. Her life, her freedom for the
sake of her small family.

Now everything is empty. Too painful. Asih, closed her eyes. Trying to find the answer to the same question that has
repeatedly questioned by Ratna. Every now and then make her sad, tried to be strong. Asih hold the edge of the kitchen
table tightly so she wouldn't drop to the floor and crying. Her employer is often confused if Asih cry. The more her
employer gives her attention the more she got broken heart. The tears still run heavily. This few days she has been too
often crying.
The first year, second, third and fourth passes with perfection. Until the fifth year, at the end of the school year. On the
day that Ratna have to attend the National Examination on her high school, Ratna found out already pregnant.
The Baby's father, is Yuda. The man she loved. The father of Vena, Asih’s eight year’s old beautiful daughter. The man
who have been married with her for more than ten years.

Now, who is to blame?

Asih regret has been drained with tears to blame her fate, Tried to accept Yuda's infidelity, tried to distract all of her
daughter's questions, parents, family and friends as well as from those who know her. What has happened to her is kind
of every story of TV drama that not real. All that makes Asih's heart shattered.
Ratna tummy were growing big and bigger. Yuda had been beaten up by villager and even being dragged into the Village
Hall to be held responsible of his wrongdoings.
Asih looked out the window, felt uneasy with his own conscience. The window provides a view of other windows.
Hundreds of other windows. With a housemaid in every home, Asih wondering how many maids meet the same fate like
hers? Feared much worse? Even much more tragic?
What happened to Asih much better than that experienced by others? Can she accept all this with sincerity? If not ... Can
she let Ratna hurt? Can she makes Rachel wait longer with stomach condition which can no longer be hidden?
The Answer for everything is on Asih's hands. She was the key. Asih know that and that means she must go home.
"Yes, Ratna. I will go home." Answer Asih with heart pain. She will go home to attend the wedding of her husband with
her only little sister.
