Music Technology Course Expectations

Attendance
It is of course expected that you will attend all your music technology lessons, however if you are unable to attend a lesson please contact the music department directly to inform us: phone 01992 410 408 or by email music@simonballe.herts.sch.uk

If you do miss a lesson without notifying the department we will contact your parents/guardian on each occasion.

Your studio time

Your allotted 2 hour blocks of studio time are also compulsory. We will designate studio times in September when you have your full timetable. As with lesson attendance you must contact the department if you are unable to attend.

Controlled Assessed Hours & Homework

As with the year 12 AS coursework, your A2 coursework tasks have to be completed during controlled assessed hours. It is not possible to complete these tasks only during class lessons, you will also need to be working on these tasks independently. We expect you to complete a minimum of one hour controlled assessed coursework per week. This must be completed in the music block. You will also be given homework tasks to complete each week. We expect you to complete this in the music department, as the homework will mostly be practical work using Logic. This will require at least one hours work. Both Controlled Assessed hours and homework will be completed during assigned independent study hours.

Independent Study Hours

In September we will have tutorial meetings with you individually to assign two hour blocks to complete your controlled assessment hours and homework tasks. As with lesson attendance and studio times, your independent study hours are a compulsory part of your A2 Music Technology course. Please contact the department if you cannot attend your private study time.
