PH host ng 2013 Asiad Centennial Games

PINILI ng Olympic Council of Asia ang Pilipinas bilang host ng 2013 Centennial Asian Games. Sinabi kahapon ni Philippine Olympic Committee chairman Monico Puentevella na 45 bansa ang lalahok sa paligsahan na tatawaging Asian Unity Games. Matunog ang world-class Boracay bilang host ng palaro. Dahil sa desisyon ng OCA ay sinabi ni Puentevella na bumuo si Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose Peping Cojuangco Jr. ng isang task force tungkol sa pagdaraos dito ng Unity Games. Inaprubahan ng OCA ang bid ng Pilipinas sa nakaraang General Assembly nito noong nakaraang linggo sa Tokyo. Dumalo sa pulong sina Cojuangco, Puentevella, POC secretarygeneral Steve Hontiveros at Mikee Jaworski ng OCA athletes commission. We havent hosted an event of such magnitude in the last 50 years or so, sabi ni Puentevella. But more than the competitive side, the Asian Unity Games 2013 will highlight the unity and camaraderie of Asian countries.
