When we discussed with the villagers we came to know the following problems with which they are fighting daily other than alcoholism and smoking LACK OF GOOD SANITATION FECILITIES . LACK OF PURE DRINKING WATER. LACK OF CHANCES FOR AWARENESS ABOUT SOCIAL EVILS. POOR CONDITIONS OF ROADS.

PROBLEMS OF SMOKING AND ALCOHOLISM

SMOKING:
It causes variety of cancers especially, cancers of lung, urinary bladder and throat Emphysema ,bronchitis, coronary heart diseases, gastric ulcer are the other diseases. The smoke released causes air pollution. It causes irritation for the people around them. Around one in a hundred deaths worldwide is due to passive smoking which kills estimated six lacks people a year.

SOLUTIONS
Support NGOs, Medical departments and other agencies to organize campaigns for Tobacco free and Alcohol free village. And to create awareness among the common people. Co-ordinate with nearby school and college NSS clubs for massive campaigns Household industries which are preparing tobacco products should be avoided and government should help them to get another job. Creating awareness among people through awareness campaigns, street plays and rallies . Concern and commitment towards family and society by every individual can solve the problem.

SURVEY REPORTS
An estimated 400,000 deaths each year are caused directly by cigarette smoking Current tobacco use in Karnataka is 41.0% among men & 14.9% among women. In Devarahalli, per day income from alcoholic business is approximately Rs 25,000-30,000 .It is equal to the per day income of 150 families. Around 1984 packets of beedi that costs about Rs 9,920 and 496 packets of cigarette that costs Rs 12,400.It is equal to the daily income of 112 families
