Upper and Lower Case Letters

Group Size: up to 4 students Directions:


Print and laminate card. Each student needs a Letter Card and color tile to mark answers. As the teacher gives instructions about which square to cover on the game cards, each student places a tile over the corresponding square on their game board. Play continues until a student covers six across or five down and calls out Letter Students clear the tiles from their boards and a new game begins.

Variations: Beginning sounds: Ask students, for example, What is the beginning sound in sun?
Standards: K.RFS.1: Reading: Foundational Skills Print Concepts 1.d. Recognize and name all upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet K.RFS.1: Reading Foundational Skills Phonological Awareness 2. Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllable, and sounds (phonemes) d. Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial, and finial sounds (phonemes) in words.
