ACTIVITY 1 : MULTIPLY TWO 1-DIGIT NUMBERS PROCEDURE : 1) Firstly, teacher gives a question about multiply two 1-digit numbers. 2) Then, teacher demonstrate concept of multiplication by grouping using concrete and manipulative materials. e.g. : 2 3 = 6 Pupils will be able to: Understand the concept of grouping in multiplication. Recognize multiplication as a repeated addition. Form answer in mental method and used it to solve the questions Use concrete material (cater filled with nuts) to apply the concept of grouping to the students.

(10 minutes)

3) Next, teacher relates multiplication as repeated addition. e.g. : 3 + 3 = 6 4) Expose the pupils to work out with the mental method

ACTIVITY 2 : MULTIPLY 2-DIGIT NUMBERS BY 1-DIGIT NUMBERS PROCEDURE : 1) Teacher shows multiplication of two numbers without regrouping. e.g. : 13 3 = 39 2) Next, teacher demonstrates how to multiply two numbers with regrouping. e.g. : 13 6 = 78 3) Lastly, pupils try to answer questions.

Pupils will be able to: Multiply 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers without regrouping. Multiply 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers with regrouping Teacher uses the same method as multiply two 1-digit numbers. Emphasize mental method to multiply 2digit numbers by 1digit numbers.

(15 minutes)

ACTIVITY 3 : MULTIPLY A NUMBER BY 0 AND 1 (10 minutes) PROCEDURE : Teacher emphasize that any number multiplied by zero results in zero. e.g. : 6 0 = 0 Pupils will be able to: Multiply a number by 0 and 1. Teacher exposes the theory rather than mental method in multiplying a number by 0 and 1.

Teacher also emphasize that a number multiplied by one will give an answer the same as its number. e.g. : 18 1 = 18 Then, pupils discuss in group to answer questions that had given.

ACTIVITY 4 : MULTIPLY 2 DIGIT NUMBERS BY 10 (10 minutes) PROCEDURE : 1) Teacher teaches how to multiply 2 digit numbers by 10 using mental method. 2) Lastly, pupils will answer the questions that had given. Pupils will be able to: Multiply 2-digit numbers by 10 Pupils need to multiply 2 digit numbers with number 1 only and then just put zero at the back of the answer.

CONCLUSION: EXERCISE (10 minutes) PROCEDURE : 1) Teacher summarizes the whole learning on that day. 2) Then, pupils are given a task about multiplication topic. Pupils will be able to: Understand more clearly on multiplication method. The exercises will be collected at the end of the class session.
