Last week, after being a life-long Democrat and serving 7 years as an elected Democrat District Attorney, Cathy Helms

announced she was switching parties after realizing her main opponent would run as a Republican. At the Berrien Republican Party meeting last Saturday, Cathy said she and her husband put their money where their mouth is and that they had donated money to Republicansshe left out the OTHER contributions theyve made. This is a politically opportunistic move (why switch now when youve had 7 years to do so?) but Ill let you be the judge of whether you think shes a true Republican or not. During the time that Cathy Helms has served as District Attorney, she and her husband have donated the following amount of money to the following candidates. Heres the list: Democrat Office Holders and Candidates: $31,280.69; note: $2,100 to now INDICTED and disgraced presidential candidate John Edwards and $9,100 to defeated candidate Roy Barnes Republican Office Holders and Candidates: $2,450.00; note: 1/2 of which was donated only after the Democrat candidate was defeated in the General Election
