Woeful State of the County

The Hack Line http://charlesmobley.wordpress.com/2012/01/13/mahtis-misses-themark/

With it being political season the Chairman of the board of Commissioners, BJ Mathis, gave a State of the County speech which was no more than a 24 minute feel good about last year address. Mathis missed an opening to tell us what the plans were for moving Henry out of its current economic despair while bring job opportunities to the county. Too much effort on what has past and nothing on what will be done in the future is the theme of this sermon. Mathis tell us no one is an expert on the future, maybe it is why she left out what the BOC is going to do in 2012. Read the entire article.

Mitt Romney, as well all know, is not and never has been a Tea Party or small government conservative; indeed, his signature achievement in his one term in public office was passing a Ted Kennedy-backed universal health care plan that moved the most Democratic state in the nation to the left on healthcare and laid the groundwork for Obamacare.

The Downfall of Economic Development

By TheDoctor @The Henry Neighbor

Mr. Charles Mobley has written a great piece about the Henry County BoC not funding economic development but actually continuing to shrink the budget to help promote it. They are keeping the citizens within a capsule insulated from what is actually happening and what they are told. Read his article entitled, "Where is Albert Einstein?" In Henry County, GA the Board of Commissioners (BOC) have yet to give a high priority to bringing job opportunity to the county. The 2011-2012 adopted budget exemplifies the priority of the current administration and all the board members. Keeping tax payers happy with Culture and Recreation and keep them informed with great communications is more of a priority than economic growth.

The REAL State of Henry County

Posted by JOANIE SCOTT @ PROOF OF R IGHT
http://proofofright.wordpress.com/

Henry County Board of Commissioners just published its COMPREHENSIVE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT (CAFR) for FY2011 which ended June 30, 2011. This coincides with Commission Chairman B.J. Mathis State of the County Address made available via video today (PART 1 and PART 2). Regardless of the rosy spin she tries to put on things, its clear from this report that our elected officials have a serious spending problem thats been going on for a very long time. Read the entire revealing article!

Comments on The REAL State of Henry County

I was shocked myself when I did the math on those based on the charts shown in the report. At first I thought maybe I'd made a mistake so I ran the numbers about 5 more times just to make sure. But, it's right there on page 119 shown as the net value of Henry County in dollars. Unbelievable. How many times have you heard BJ Mathis make the argument for spending because Henry's population has grown so much in the last 10 years? I know I've heard it several times, especially since the census was just done last year. This completely takes the wind out of that sail as an argument for spending from now. I honestly believe there was a divine intervention in this blog. I used the search feature on the county website and the first link it returned was to this CAFR report for 2011 that was just published on December 20th, so it's pretty new. I figured this report was what BJ might be basing her SOTC Address on and here it just fell in my lap. I read the whole thing and, I think, because BJ had made population such a big issue, is exactly why those numbers stood out to me. 38% growth didn't seem nearly as big a deal as she'd made it out to be. So that got me wondering how disproportionate was the growth of the county related to the population and it was all right there in black and white. Once I had that part done, the land deals were easy. I haven't even been able to stomach the thought of watching BJ's videos and frankly, I don't intend on watching them because it's all a bunch of spin and lies. A link is posted to it so others can see for themselves how she spins it against the facts. We must make this blog go viral. Please, ask everyone you know to email it to their friends and neighbors. http://proofofright.wordpress.com/ Endorsed and recommended by truth seekers!

BJs Vision Will Suck Us Dry

As I watch the State of the County address it became apparent that I could become ill by the end of this diatribe of dribble. Most of the address she was trying to explain why she is right in all the evil she has done over the years. I lost count how many times she said quality of life, it started to make me toss my cookies. She has no clue what a persons quality of life is; it is different for every person in the County. Of course she had to try and get people on her side about buying Tara Field Airport. Thinking that the companies that are here now will use it is grasping at straws. Saying that Snapper might use the airport to fly people in, Snapper doesnt own a plane not to say that Snapper is no more they are now Briggs & Stratton, hello Chairman did you not know this talk about being out of touch. She kept stating that the County only paid $2Million and that the FAA paid $15Million, again she is out of touch. Mrs. Mathis where does the FAA get its money? From the tax payers of Henry County and the Nation. Then we had to listen to her about her trip to Israel and how they cope with problems and the vision they have when things go wrong. This is all well and nice but we are not Israel we have other types of problems we dont get along with each other as well as they do, they have a higher standard of morals than we do. Her vision is for us to cave in and let her have her way with our money and ask no questions just believe in her. She wants to be bold and do bold things to think out side of the box to fix the Countys problems. Now is this Chairman

lets be bold and run the Government with honest transparent practices that the people can understand. Is that bold enough for ya? Folks please get involved with your County and Cities you are the people you have the power to elect the right people for the job just do a little homework and make the right choice. The County and her people are depending on you dont let them down. Alfred Britt

Allen West Weighs in Unless Youve Been Shot at by the Taliban Shut Your Mouth, War Is Hell
Rep. Allen West (R-FL), a former Army lieutenant colonel, sent The Weekly Standard an email commenting on a recent video depicting what appears to be four U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban terrorists. The email reads as follows [emphases added]: I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah. All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq? The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter. As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell. Rep. West, who served in both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, wrote the email in response to how some U.S. politicians and media pundits have reacted to the Marines video. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, for example, has strongly condemned the actions depicted in the video. Anyone, anyone found to have participated or know about it, having engaged in such conduct, must be held fully accountable, Hillary Clinton said yesterday, calling the incident a potential war crime. The four men in the video were members of a sniper team in a unit that lost seven members in action last summer in Afghanistan

Who Will Continue the Reagan Legacy?

http://www.newsmax.com/Pages/2012?PROMO_CODE=DCDC-1

The 2012 presidential election may be the most crucial in America's history, Michael Reagan says. Michael hosts the Newsmax 2012 Election Special.

In this riveting program, Michael also reveals why Newsmax believes Newt Gingrich of all the GOP candidates is the best to continue "the Reagan legacy." As Iowa heads to its caucus vote and the New Hampshire primary nears, Michael talks about the remarkable life Newt Gingrich has led an "American life," he says, having come from humble roots and rising to become speaker of the House, the third-highest elected official in our land. Michael also discusses Newt Gingrich's remarkable legislative record cutting taxes, restraining federal spending and abolishing welfare. Newt led Congress to four balanced budgets and helped start an economic boom that created 11 million new jobs.

In a special sit-down with Newsmax, you will also hear Newt's take on: Reversing the Obama agenda and jump-starting the economy His new low flat-tax plan His "get tough" border and illegal-alien policies Why he believes Iran poses a great threat to the U.S. His plan to protect our nation's Judeo-Christian heritage What he really thinks about Mitt Romney and Ron Paul And what Newt will say in his final debate with Barack Obama. There much, much more in this Newsmax Special with Michael Reagan. Sit back, relax and enjoy this program then share it with friends and family!

Gingrich Has Most Exceptional Moment of 2012 Election Cycle

by Tony Lee @ Human Events Speaking at the Greenville/Spartanburg GOP Bronze Elephant Dinner in Duncan, South Carolina on Friday night, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, in response to a question about what the American dream is about, had the most exceptional moment of the 2012 cycle. As he is emerging as the chief anti-Mitt Romney? challenger in South Carolina (Gingrich is a strong second, according to numerous South Carolina polls released this week), Gingrich described the America many feel will be just a memory if President Barack Obama wins another term and articulated why the preservation of that America should never be taken for granted and how Americans should be proactive in ensuring their children and grandchildren inherit an American with gritty, Jacksonian values not unlike the one they inherited. Countries can die, Gingrich powerfully said, referring to a lesson he learned while his father was stationed overseas. And Leadership can make an enormous difference. Gingrich noted that he grew up surrounded by people who were passionate about America who loved America because they did not have that much economically and was raised by a grandmother who was from a generation that instilled in him a belief that GEORGE W ASHINGTON? was a heroic figure and the founding fathers led remarkable lives. We didnt think we were poor, Gingrich said. We were Americans, and therefore we were rich, we had freedoms and a sense of safety. Gingrich said that the American dream is to recognize first that we exist under our Creator with unalienable rights and, therefore, no president, judge, or bureaucrat can take away our rights. Gingrich then discussed the Scots-Irish, Jacksonian tradition that fights for the American dream and to preserve the God-given rights of every American, can referred to it as a very deep strain in us that intellectuals are often terrified of that comes in part from South Carolina, western North Carolina, and Tennessee. Gingrich was aiming directly at the Reagan coalition in the state that was responsible for propelling Reagan to the 1980 Republican nomination. We are a tough country, Gingrich said defiantly. We are a country that believes in the flag that has a snake on it that says dont tread on me. Were a country that believes that we have not yet begun to fight. He said that to be an American means that you have to love the country, love what it has stood for, you have to love what it offers every single American of every background and work every day so that you can pass on that country to your children and grandchildren because America is a treasure that we should not lightly give up or be allowed to be taken away from us. Gingrich's moment can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k0fOU4wBoM

Playing it safe with Mitt a perilous move for GOP

By Holly Robichaud @ Boston Herald.com Do Republicans really need to nominate a moderate to beat President Obama? We have been there and already failed to do that with Sen. John McCain, but that still doesnt stop the party

establishment from trying to force down our throat another moderate who is supposed to be able to win in swing states. One of the most important swing states in the presidential contest is Florida, with 29 Electoral College votes. Did the Sunshine State just elect a moderate or a proud conservative to the U.S. Senate? The answer is they elected one of the nations most popular political figures, conservative Marco Rubio, who is on everyones short list for vice president. Despite the desperate warnings of possibly losing a Republican seat in the Senate, Rubio surged in the polls because of his commitment to a fiscally conservative message. The Crist candidacy eventually crumbled. Moderate Republicans are lamenting that a Rick Santorum nomination will ensure Obamas re-election. They should remember they said the same thing about Ronald Reagan in his race against George H.W. Bush, said pollster David Johnson of Strategic Vision. In many ways, MITT ROMNEY is a Crist clone. He is handsome, a career politician always looking for the next office to run for, who has undergone a transformation from a liberal Republican to a moderate to a Jeb Bush conservative back to a moderate. Like Crist, Romney also shares a flaw of embracing an Obama initiative. While Crist was a strong advocate for the wasteful stimulus bill, Romneys health care plan, whether or not he admits it, served as the model for Obamacare. Santorum should follow the same formula as Rubio by taking Mitt to task on Romneycare, which is a more deadly GOP sin, rather than attacking fellow conservatives. Consultants are obviously advising that Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich are cutting into his votes, but they are missing the point that conservative voters are looking for a leader who can take on Romney and then Obama.
