TRACKING NEIGHBOURHOOD AIR POLLUTION

Five Hamilton neighbourhoods showed elevated levels of air pollution during a snapshot of monitoring last year by Rotek Environmental, on behalf of Clean Air Hamilton.

NORTH-WEST:

Elevated levels of nitrogen dioxide, a byproduct of fossil fuel combustion, compared to citywide averages.

EASTPORT DRIVE: Elevated levels of nitrogen oxides, likely from Skyway tra c, and elevated particulate matter under certain wind directions. WENTWORTH STREET NORTH: Test results
in the area around the Eva Rothwell Centre showed elevated levels of particulate matter as well as nitrogen dioxide, a byproduct of fossil fuel combustion.
