Bruce, This is without a doubt one of the most difficult letters I have had to write. For decades, you have served Colchester and the surrounding communities in various capacities. Your volunteer work for underprivileged families and your long service on the Board of Finance are testaments to how much you care about your neighbors and community. I know you must be going through a difficult time right now and I am a strong believer that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. However, I also believe that due to your circumstance, a cloud now hangs over the Board of Finance and the town. We will soon begin shaping the 2012-2013 budget and I would hate to see any distractions during this important process. It is therefore with a heavy heart that I am respectfully asking for your immediate resignation from the Board of Finance. I make this request out of concern for this community and a desire to ensure that no citizen should have reason to question the integrity of the budget process. You have a long history of doing what is right for the entire community and I hope you will continue that record by stepping down from the board. Si.ncerely, /
