God Gave You a Body

God gave you a body.
Your body is special. And you are special.
You can keep your body safe. You can keep your body clean.

Heavenly Father created boys and girls.
All children lived with Heavenly Father before they were born.
He knew you then, and he knows you now.

Dressing in modest clothing helps to keep your body safe.
Dressing modestly also helps you to feel sure of yourself.
It lets others know that you respect your body and that you make choices about what you do with your
own body.
{The following pages will include a dress-up section where children can put together modest outfits
for a girl and a boy. You might want to use the dress-up pages from The Family Proclamation ABCs to
facilitate this discussion in the meantime.}
If you always dress modestly, people will feel safe around you, you will be happy, and you will always
feel comfortable in Gods presence.
Do you know how to dress modestly?
Here are some things to check for when you get dressed:
y
My shoulders ure covered.
y
My shlrt covers my stomuch.
y
My shorts or sklrt go to my knees.
y
My shlrt ls not low-cut.
y
My clothes ure not tlght.
y
I dont look sloppy.
y
My hulr ls combed.
y
My clothes ure not suggy, torn, or holey to flt ln wlth u style.
y
Lubels or words on my clothes ure respectful, not rude or offenslve.

Tlp: Sometlmes you mlght thlnk your clothes ure modestuntll you sturt movlng uround. To muke sure
you wlll stlll be modest lf you bend over or run uround, slng the Prlmury song, Heud, Shoulders, Knees,
und Toes und do the uctlons whlle you slng. If you cun stlll be modest wlth ull thut movement, youre
reudy to go! (Modesty Checkllst, Frlend, Muy 2010)
Many people do not know what you know about bodies.
They do not know that bodies are special and sacred.
They do not know that God expects us to keep our bodies clean.

But you know.
And you know that someday, you will stand before God againin your body.
That will be a beautiful day.
Because of this, you must protect your body.
Do not let anyone touch your body in areas that are covered by underwear.
Let a trusted adult know if anyone tries.

You will not be in trouble for telling.
Telling will keep you and your body safe.

Another way to stay safe is to be careful what you look at.
Do not look at pictures or videos of people who are naked or very immodest.
Do not watch movies where people are touching the private parts of bodies.
This is not right.
This is called pornography, and it will hurt you.

You have the power to look away from images that are not modest:
in the grocery store
on TVand online
in magazines
in movie theatres
even in video games and books.
<ou huve the power to wulk uwuy.
<ou ure ln churge of your body.
It ls u beuutlful body, und Heuvenly Futher hus glven lt to you.
<ou cun run und |ump und pluy und work ln your body.
And these ure ull good thlngs to do.
