Veronica: Did you hear that Carla is going in for a boob job? Mike: What?

She doesnt need plastic surgery. Why would she do that? Veronica: Her boyfriend, Jimmy has been telling her that her boobs are too small. She wants to make them bigger. Mike: Thats ridiculous! There's nothing wrong with her breast. How is she paying for it anyway? Theres no way her insurance will cover this kind of unnecessary cosmetic surgery. Veronica: Shes paying out of her own pocket. Shes been cutting back on a lot of her other expenses for months in order to pay for this. Mike: I hope she won't regret it later. This is a colour photo of a mother and her baby. I think it was taken in a supermarket, because the baby is sitting in a trolley. They are at the fruits and vegetables department of the supermarket. The baby is wearing a blue T-shirt, so I guess he is a boy. The mother - who is wearing a black top - is picking up some vegetables for dinner. She is giving a tomato to the baby at the moment. Both of them are smiling. I think the baby is around 8 months old, so he is old enough to eat vegetables and fruits. Maybe he likes tomatoes, thats why hes so happy. Besides the tomatoes I can see a lot of different vegetables. From left to right there are green peppers, broccoli, cucumbers, cabbages and eggplants. In front of the mother I can see lemons, limes, spinach and avocados. Kzpfok kplers 1. - audio mp3 - In this picture I see a young couple. They are comfortably sitting on a sofa in the livingroom. They are looking at a thick magazine or some kind of album with pictures. They probably have shared interests and they are spending their free time together. Reading together can be a very good way to relax after work or in your free time. But lots of people prefer to watch TV or movies at home or at the cinema. There is an open laptop on their coffee table between two red mugs. Maybe later they will watch a movie on it. They might also look for some programs in the city, like concerts or theatre performances. However, not many young people go to the theatre nowadays and they almost never go to the opera or to see a ballet performance, for example. Instead it is more popular to spend hours in front of the Internet. We seem to forget that we could choose from a variety of hobbies. Listening to music, playing some instrument, painting, going to the library to borrow books, horse-riding, taking dancing lessons and so many more. Felsfok kplers 1. - audio mp3 - In this picture I can see a fighting couple and between them is their son covering his ears with his hands. He probably doesn't want to hear his parents shouting at

each other. Unfortunately, this is not a very surprising situation because it reminds me of the fact that the number of divorces is increasing year by year. First of all, it is more and more fashionable to remain single and unmarried as long as possible. Everybody is building their careers, living their lives, enjoying their freedom and they do not believe in long-lasting marriages or relationships as much as the earlier generations did. In addition, many of those people who were brave enough to marry and have a family, have divorced after a couple of years or are thinking of it at present. This results in many single parents or middle aged people with no kids at all. And children who experience a divorce will probably not believe in the institution of marriage either. So, we are heading towards a world of many single and perhaps lonely people. No wonder nations are dying out. It is interesting, however, that this is mainly characteristic of western and industrialized countries. Even in these countries, it is more likely that more children will be born in a family that has a lower life standard than in one where they could afford having a larger family. Perhaps in a poorer family, where many generations have to live together, the concept of 'family' is stronger and they value it much more. In families such as these, the older generations, the grandparents, are also paid more attention to and they are respected and cared for. In western countries it is more commonplace that the grandparents go to a nursing home, the parents are divorced, lead individual lives and the children live on their own from a very young age. Perhaps because it can be afforded. It does not seem to strengthen family ties. Thankfully, there are always exceptions and sometimes people do find the right kind of partners, have children and bring them up to respect the elders and learn from their wisdom. This way, they are raised to respect 'the family', are less likely to turn to drugs, to turn into criminals or lonely sad people and can be the type of people that are a hope to a nation.

Do you know how coffee is made? In this section well read about the way coffee beans become a cup of nice, hot beverage. Coffee is made from the seeds of the coffee plant, which are called coffee beans. After the coffee beans are picked from the coffee plant, they are going through the production process. The different phases of the coffee production process are the followings: Aging Some sorts of coffee taste better if the beans are "aged". This means that after they are picked, the beans are kept from three to eight years. This "aging" gives the coffee a less acidic taste. Coffee that

has been aged is often mixed or "blended" with other coffee that is not aged. Roasting "Roasting" is one of the most important stages in making coffee beans into coffee. When a coffee bean is roasted, it grows nearly two times bigger and changes from green to yellow to brown. The length of time that the coffee beans are roasted makes the coffee taste different. Some types of coffee, such as Mocha and Java, are roasted for a short time. Grinding Before the coffee is made into a drink, it is "ground" in a small grinding machine called a "coffee mill". The coffee mill breaks the beans into very small pieces. Coffee is turned into a drink in several different ways. For some ways of making coffee, such as "espresso" it is best to have the coffee ground into fine powder, but for other types of coffee-making, such as "filtered coffee", the coffee is in larger pieces to stop it going through the filter. Finely ground coffee makes a stronger taste. Brewing Coffee is made into a drink by putting the coffee into boiling water. This is called "brewing" coffee. There are many ways to brew coffee. Yesterday a young boy stole Hillarys purse while she was walking home from work. After the incident Hillary went to the police station to report the case. Now she is talking to a police officer about the theft. Police Officer: So Miss Baker, tell me everything about the incident! Hillary: It was about 5 oclock when I finished work and left my office. Police Officer: Where is your office exactly? Hillary: I work at 76-78 Upper Ground, in South Bank. Police Officer: So you left your office at 5 p.m., didnt you? Hillary: Yes, I did. The weather was fine, the sun was shining, so I decided to go to the tube station on foot, instead of taking the bus, as I usually do. Police Officer: Which station were you walking to? Waterloo, I guess. Hillary: Yes, thats right. I was walking towards Waterloo station when I noticed that a young man was following me. Police Officer: Can you describe him? What was he like? What was he wearing? Hillary: I didnt have much time to have a good look at him. Everything happened so fast.

Police Officer: You remember the colour of his hair and eyes, dont you? Hillary: He was wearing a dark blue hooded jacket, so I couldnt see his hair. I didnt see his eyes either. Police Officer: What else was he wearing? Hillary: He was wearing a pair of light blue jeans and boots. Police Officer: How exactly did the incident happen? Hillary: As I mentioned before, it was about 5 oclock when I left my office. I was walking towards the station when I noticed this guy. He was wearing a hoodie, and it seemed to be strange to me, because the sun was shining. He started to follow me. He was walking faster and faster so I took my cell phone out of my bag to call my boyfriend. While I was dialling his number, the guy came next to me, and snatched my handbag. I screamed for help, but he ran away in a minute and nobody could help me. Then I came here. Police Officer: What did the handbag contain? Hillary: My purse with my credit cards, my documents and my keys. Fortunately, he didnt snatch my cell-phone as I was dialling my boyfriends number and it was in my hand. Police Officer: Were there any witnesses? Hillary: There were some people who saw the incident but nobody came to my help. Police Officer: I see, Miss Baker. I took the minutes and we are going to start the investigation soon. If you want to travel long distance, the most convenient mean of transport is air-travel. Nowadays it is easy to buy an air-ticket: you can book flights online or you can buy them at travel agencies, too. Travelling by air can be quite cheap, budget airlines offer affordable prices for everyone. You board the plane (get on the plane) at the airport. Usually, travellers have to arrive at the airport two hours before the plane departs (takes off). When you arrive at the airport, you have to check in at the check-in counter. You have to check in your bags, too. After checking in youll have to pass through security where they will check your ID or passport and your carry-on bags. You will also have to walk through a metal detector, which will check for illegal items. After youve passed through security, you can go to the gate where youll wait to board your flight. HOW TO FIND AN APATMENT Bob and Susan are going to get married soon, and they want to find an apartment where they can start their life together. They began to look at apartments last week. Now they are at their friends place, and talking about their plans to find a nice flat.

Susan:Bob and I looked at several apartments last week. Bob: We looked everywhere - in the city, in the suburbs ... and we cant decide. If we rent a house in the suburbs well have to drive. And you know the price of petrol nowadays! Susan:We looked at every kind of apartment - one bedroom, two bedrooms. I cant even remember all the apartments we saw. Im also quite confused, I dont really understand terms like security deposit, leases, and utilities. Tim: Wait a minute! Before you start looking at apartments, you should decide what kind of apartment youd like to rent, and where youd like to live. If you know what you want, itll be much easier to find a place! Susan:Id like a small house in the suburbs, three bedrooms, with a dishwasher, air-conditioning, and a swimming pool nearby. Bob: Sure! And I would like a villa by the seaside. Susan you know that we cant afford such a big house. Tim: Did you make a budget? Do you know how much you can afford? Bob: Well, actually, we didnt. Tim: First of all, you have to decide how much you can afford. The rent of an apartment and the utilities should cost less than one third of your monthly budget. Then you should decide what kind of apartment you want, how many rooms you want, you want it furnished or unfurnished. After you decided everything, you can start looking at apartments. Bob: Do you have any idea where we can find out about apartments for rent? Tim: First you should decide where you want to live - in the city or in the suburbs, which neighbourhood. Then get a newspaper and look at the classified ads. Susan:You mean the want ads? Eve: There are other ways to find out about apartments. Drive or walk around the neighbourhood you like and look for rent signs. Pop in the local estate agents, they generally have a bulletin board with notices about apartments for rent. But be careful, if you use apartment rental services, the agency may charge a fee! Peter: Talk to your friends and people at work. They may know about apartments for rent. At last, but not least you can surf property portals on the Internet to find apartments for rent. They generally show photos of the apartments as well.
