Topic 1: Describe a time when you accepted an invitation

I’m gonna share with you a wedding of my cousin that I attended. Last month, I received a
wedding invitation from her. The wedding was held at the beginning of April. We have
been close to each other for over 15 years, therefore, I definitely wanted to attend at all costs,
due to the fact that we hadn’t had a chance to get together for ages. Her wedding ceremony
took place at Xanh Palace, located near my school in my city. It was decorated impressively
with a lot of lights, candles and flowers around the room. There were three glamorous
wedding photo albums, showing tables right at the centre of the official gate. The principal
colours were likely to be white and violet, so all the guests were requested to wear clothes
with one or both of these colours. Personally, I wore a white dress with small accessories. It
was also a good chance to catch up with my cousin and we all had a great time. We definitely
made the most of the occasion and took a lot of pictures with the bride and the bridegroom. I
gave my cousin a gift to celebrate her wedding day. I had given much thought to my wedding
present when I was choosing it, and I wished her lots of happiness for the future.
Topic 2: Describe your favorite movie
I am excited to talk about a movie that I have watched so many times, which is “Doraemon”.
I grew up with Doraemon, and the cartoon series has taught me a lot. The movie has
entertaining story plots. It’s a fun show that engages kids’ creativity with “what if” gadgets.
The show follows a formula, starting with Nobita’s problems (usually caused by himself);
Doraemon’s gadget solving the problem, but is then misused and thus causing another
problem. Every once in a while, the movie will break out from the formula, and teach deeper,
more emotional values. Besides, it does teach friendship with Nobita’s friends: Shizuka is a
pretty girl, Sueno is a rich kid and Gian is selfish and violent. All the main characters have
flawed personalities, but the group of friends have learned to accept each other regardless.
Nobita is a whiny, lazy kid, and Doraemon is a good buddy who bails him out in most cases.
Topic 3: Describe a time when you were scared.
Well, I think everyone has at least experienced one scary event in their life, be it an accident
or a natural disaster, and I am no exception. When I was just knee-high to a grass-shopper, I
was scared to death by, I think, an extra-terrestrial thing.
I still remember vividly that happened at night when I was at home alone. My parents and
little sister had gone to another town to join a relative’s party, while I had to stay at home to
do the homework. You know, my village at that time was just a run-down area surrounded by
bamboos and the foliage of many types of trees that often frightened me whenever I thought
of them. Suddenly, something white in color jumped out of the trees right in front of me and
in just a few seconds, I suffered from a blackout.
When I woke up, I saw the worrying faces of my parents and sister, and nowhere could I find
the thing that scared me. I talked to my parents about that thing but they did not believe, and
thought that due to study burdens, I had illusions or it was just a dream. Even though I was
not sure what it exactly was, I believed it was real.
Even though now, it was still a terrifying experience to me, I am not so afraid of it anymore. I
think that in this world, there are many mystical and unexplained things existing beyond
human perception.
Topic 4: Describe an important invention.
There are so many life-changing inventions in this world that it is hard for me to choose one.
However, considering what springs to my mind at the moment, I think I would describe the
Internet. Internet is a worldwide system in which people connect and share information with
each other. Since Americans invented it in 1969, it continued to be developed and completed.
Thanks to the Internet, we can now send messages and make calls immediately. Moreover,
we can even communicate and work with people from different parts of the world, as shown
in how virtual classrooms and meetings have grown dramatically in popularity in recent
years.And of course, it is impossible not to mention the recreational and educational values
that the Internet brings. Should we struggle to find an answer to a specific question, using
search engines such as Google has been proven to be extremely useful here.Most importantly,
what I love about the Internet is that thanks to it, people nowadays are having better access
than ever to different entertainment programmes. We can literally do everything with the help
of the Internet, from watching movies, listening to music to playing mobile games. This is
even better when no fees are charged when we use such features on the Internet. Overall, I
believe that there are so many inventions that have made our world a better place, and the
Internet is one of the most revolutionary one.
Topic 5 : Describe a time when you have a shopping problem.
Technology has made shopping really so comfortable and time saver with use of online
shopping portals and home delivery. One can get anything at their doorstep. Sometimes these
things don't work and create a problem which can be totally annoying. Online shopping has
some darker sides like fake products delivered and bad customer experience.
I ordered a pair of clothes on the occasion of my cousin's marriage , and I did not have time
to go to the market so I did online shopping. I selected two jeans and five shirts. All clothes
were from a popular brand so I did not have to worry about the material.
I was expecting my order to be delivered before a couple of days so I can wear them on
different days of rituals. And I did not receive any delivery till the day of marriage and I was
totally disappointed. I even contacted customer service and they replied that your order is
shipped. The shipping company also did not reply on time. They delivered me my order late
when all the rituals were over and the clothes were totally useless for me.
I really was totally dissatisfied and disappointed with the shopping experience. I really will
never depend on these shopping sites when it comes to delivery. It was an exhausting
experience.
Topic 6: Describe a city you would like to visit.
If I have a chance, I’d like to visit Da Lat. Da Lat is the coolest place in Viet Nam, with an
average temperature around 20-25 degree annually. Located in the Lam Vien highland, Da
Lat is famous for its cool weather, various types of flower and romantic scenes. Visiting Da
Lat, I will visit its pine forests, flowers garden, vintage houses and stores,.. Besides, enjoying
the local cuisine attracts me a lot. Xuan Huong lake and Da Lat market are among the most
common places in Da Lat for visitors to come. Also, you can see the French architecture in
the houses and villas in Da Lat, which has been built nearly 100 years ago. Valleys, lakes,
mountains and hills are known as the symbols of Da Lat, Suoi Vang valley, Love valley, Suoi
Vang lake, Langbiang mountain are the ideal destinations to have a rest and escape from the
city’s noise. They are also the places that many music videos were filmed and gained
reputation. Because of its peace, breathtaking views and natural beauty , Da Lat is listed one
of the most expected attractions in Viet Nam. I have never been there, but I always dream of
coming there once of my life. I believe that, one day, I can put my step there, breath fresh air
and enjoy the peace.
Topic 7: Describe one of your hobbies.
Music is an inseparable part of my life. Listening to music has become my hobby since I was
a little kid because it can be very relaxing and enjoyable. I still listen to music almost every
day as it helps reduce stress and anxiety. It doesn’t matter in which language a song is, or who
the singer is as long as I enjoy the melody.
Music is a universal language enjoyed by everyone from every culture, and it has been
proven to be a great source of entertainment. In fact, listening to music makes me feel good
inside because I can enjoy the emotion that comes from listening to a song. It improves my
moods and emotions, giving me a positive outlook on life. In addition, when I listen to music,
I feel like it can help me promote attention and focus so I am able to concentrate on what I
am doing more effectively.
When I am having a stressful day, one of the best things I can do is to just sit back with
friends or family and listen to some music. It will make me feel good inside by releasing all
the tension I might have in your body, allowing it to relax. And then l feel like a whole new
person! This is another reason why listening to music is a great hobby. It lets me de-stress
and forget about my personal problems.
Topic 8: Describe a volunteer activity you have joined.
When we was in grade 12, my class and I did a volunteer work in a … Setting out early in the
morning, we went there with many toys and candies for children there. Those disable children
were left there by their parents, who were not able to grow them up due to poverty. Besides
preparing candies and some drinks, we also organized some games with them. We said that
they want to meet parents but their parents rarely came to meet them. So they always looked
forward to volunteers coming and playing with them. They were so happy that day and so are
we. We cooked lunch by ourselves and ate with them. In the afternoon, we organized a music
show with the performance of both volunteers and the children there. There were many
laughs and handclaps during the presentations, which proved that we had a really funny
moment. We left late in the afternoon. They were grateful to us for coming there and we also
promised to come back regularly. Leaving them behind, we nearly burst into tears, they are so
lamentable. This voluntary work made us understand that there are still many unfortunate
lives in this world. Being a student, let’s study hard to build a better nation and help the
country escape the poverty.
Topic 9: Describe a time when you received a special phone message.
Well, text messages are not cared for by youngsters because they like to communicate via
other communication websites like WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook. As for as I am
concerned, I was very happy to receive a text message a month ago. It was sent by my old
friend, who has been living in Canada, and he sent me birthday wishes, and the text message
had a picture with sound. When I opened it, I listened again to the same song that I used to
listen to in the past, and the title was my heart is breathing. It was so dear to me. I really
forgot my resentment toward my friend. It was beautifully decorated that now I have no
words to explain it and this message was very important for me because it was the first
message from my friend after so many years and the other reason might be of
misunderstanding that was in our relationship that we stopped talking to each other
particularly when we both were doing bachelors. So this message revived our old relationship
and recalled the moments that I had with my friend; and this message really gave a chance to
our relationship, and we became friends again. We started to communicate with each other. I
have not deleted it and kept it safely.
Topic 10: Describe something that happened to you on a trip or journey.
Last summer, my high school friend and I tried traveling together in Hai Phong. We traveled
together by train. After we arrived, we rented motorbikes and went around to admire the
scenery and eat the specialties here. It was almost 40 degrees Celsius that day, really hot. The
trip seemed as beautiful as in the video reviews but no, our trip was quite tiring. Because we
were young, our parents only allowed us to go for 1 day, so we went out without rest at all.
We hovered around the city center then decided to go to Do Son beach to play. And at that
time around 12 noon, when I was driving, suddenly my motorbike broke down. We think that
it's because of the heat and the long walk that makes it like this. Then we took the car to the
auto repair shop and they said the motorbike ran out of gas, then we bought gas to fill the
tank but it still didn't work. At that time, the repairman said that the internal equipment was
broken, and the repair cost was 1 million VND. Because the cost was too expensive, we
called the car hirer to come and handle the car. When the car hirer came to check, he said that
the repairman cheated on us, he locked the gas tank. It's crazy, isn't it? Finally, the motorcycle
works normally, the trip continues with discoveries. Although tired, but very happy. At 18
p.m. we caught the train and returned to Hanoi with delicious food that bring home. If you
asked if I want to travel like that again, my answer is still yes. It contributes to my childhood
memories
