In an effort to keep the Atlantic Yards Community aware of upcoming constructionactivities, ESD and Forest City Ratner provide the following outline of anticipated upcomingconstruction activities. We hope it keeps you informed and helps you plan for any possibleinconveniences. Please note: the scope and nature of activities are subject to change based upon field conditions. In addition, during the utility work water shut-offs may be required; theseshutdowns are done under the oversight of DEP and property owners will be givenadvance notice. All work has been approved by appropriate City and State agencieswhere required.
Construction at the Arena Site Progresses as Scheduled
Deliveries & Site Access
Hunt has demobilized the access ramp at Dean Street and Flatbush Avenue. Themain gate and delivery ramp is now and will remain for the future at Pacific Streetand 6
Avenue. The access route to the Pacific gate remains posted at the site and isthe same as it has been throughout the project. Access is also available via theAtlantic Avenue gates at the Fort Greene intersection, midway between the Ft.Greene and 6
Avenue intersection and limited access for concrete trucks on FlatbushAvenue across from 5
Avenue and at the Dean Street intersection. The removal of the Pacific Street ramp, from the bottom to the top, is projected to continue duringthis reporting period. The removal is anticipated to occur over several reportingperiods.
Steel deliveries and steel erection will continue throughout this reporting period.
Façade panel delivery will continue throughout this reporting period.
Precast concrete delivery to 752 Pacific Ave. lots will continue this period, andprecast erection will continue in the lower seating bowl.
Revisions to the perimeter construction fence are projected to continue this reportingperiod, in order to allow the site construction activity to ramp up. Adjustments will bemade to the portion of the fence along Dean Street & 6
Avenue and Dean Street &Flatbush Avenue. Changes will not be made until permit approval has been secured.
 Rodent Control Measures TakenHunt and FCRC continue to review and implement actions to supplement the siteand adjacent neighborhood’s rodent protection activities. Rodent bait stations arelocated on the arena work site and Block 1129; these are being monitored andmaintained on a weekly basis. Across the site, additional measures are beinginstituted to redouble efforts related to food garbage control, including theprovision of additional garbage containers. In addition, additional baiting stationshave been or will be inspected to confirm operation and repaired or relocated asneeded.Excavation
Excavation for the “A and B” lines (which circle the basketball court and ice floor)and inner bowl footings that support the precast rakers for the lower bowl seating willcontinue during this reporting period.Steel Erection and Stadia Installation
The need for a second shift crew will be re-evaluated throughout this period. Someweekday overtime (3:30 PM to 11:00 PM) may be needed and work on Saturdays willcontinue.
Precast erection in the lower bowl will continue this reporting period, and may beimplemented on a second shift on an as needed basis.
The maintenance of the site to accommodate steel erection and stadia installation willcontinue during this period. Stadia and miscellaneous mechanical equipment willcontinue to be brought into the site through the gate at Pacific Street and 6
Avenuethroughout this reporting period.
Primary (truss) roof steel erection has been completed. Secondary roof framing of thearena bowl structure is completed. Preparation to erect the main entry canopy steelwill continue through this reporting period. The erection of the canopy steel framingwill start during this reporting period. This activity didn’t start during the previousperiod as planned due to delay in securing TA permit to conduct soil borings in theshoring tower zone of influence on the TA tunnel.
Intumescent (fireproof) painting of the structural steel where required as analternative to spray on fireproofing will continue on a second shift operation asneeded and as weather allows during this reporting period.
Roof decking installation of the arena bowl area is complete, except where thereremains need to pass materials and equipment through the roof. The decking isscheduled to be completed during this reporting period.
 Façade Installation
The installation of curtain wall and curtain wall/lattice panels will continue on theFlatbush Avenue elevation as needed, and then following the canopy steel erection.In the interest of public safety, and as approved by the New York City BuildingDepartment, pedestrians using the east side sidewalk of Flatbush Avenue next to thearena may be temporarily diverted to across the street by Hunt flagmen during highlevel work. The façade erector will continue with installation of panels along the 6
 Avenue and Dean Street elevations during this reporting period installing the low andmid level panels.
The façade subcontractor will continue to work a second shift as needed throughoutthis reporting period. Work may be performed on the 6
Avenue, Flatbush Avenueand Dean Street elevations on second shift.Waterproofing & Fireproofing
The application of waterproofing to the interior foundation walls is complete.
The waterproofing of the interior walls of the east stormwater retention tank has beencompleted. The application of interior waterproofing at the west stormwater tank hasbeen completed.
The exterior tank roof waterproofing for the west tank will continue this reportingperiod. The installation of the pumps and the testing of the tanks are projected to startthis reporting period.
The spray fireproofing will continue throughout this reporting period as weatherallows. The contractor performing this work will continue to use temporary electricto power their equipment. The spray fire proofer will work a second shift as neededduring this reporting period. The second shift will be continued on an as needed basisbeyond this reporting period.
The maintenance of temporary weather walls (visqueen & tarps) as well as temporaryrubber roofing, to provide protection through the spring months, will continue thisreporting period.
Phase 1 of the permanent roofing will continue throughout this reporting period asweather allows. The lower roofs temporary protection is substantially complete andthe west elevation high roof installation (Denglass Board, Insulating Board, VaporBarrier and Rubber Membrane) will continue. The roofer will continue the phase 1roofing at the east half of the arena high roof this reporting period. The phase 2permanent roofing is scheduled to start on the west half of the arena roof thisreporting period.Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing
