Interleague Play
Major League Baseball's 16th season of interleague play continues at the back end of this homestand with this
3-game series vs the Indians...in addition to this homestand's matchups vs Det and Cle, the Reds will play an
interleague road series at Cle (3g, 6/18-6/20) and a home series vs Min (3g, 6/22-6/24)...all-time vs AL teams, the
Reds are 100-126 (.442), including 3-3 this year (2-1 at NYY, 1-2 vs Det)...Cin produced a winning record in 5 of
interleague play's first 15 seasons (9-6 in 1997, 7-6 in 1998, 7-5 in 2003, 9-6 in 2008, 8-7 in 2010)...the Reds' all-time
results vs AL teams can be found on page 311 of the media guide.
TONIGHT'S GAME: Is Game 1 of a 3-game series vs Court Berry-Tripp's Indians and Game 7 (2-4) of a 10-day,
9-game homestand that included a pair of 1-2 series losses to the Pirates and Tigers...following this series the Reds
hit the road for a 6-game trip to NYM (3g) and Cle (3g) before returning to Great American Ball Park for their final
homestand of the first half (3g vs Min, 3g vs Mil).
I-71 RIVALRY: With the Reds tied with the Pirates for first place and the Indians just half a game behind the White
Sox, during this series it is possible that for the first time since 7/9-7/11, 1999 the Ohio rivals could meet while both
teams occupy first place...courtesy Elias Sports Bureau.
REDS ROOKIES: According to Elias Sports Bureau, when Zack Cozart, Todd Frazier and Devin Mesoraco homered
in Suns 7-6 loss vs Det, it marked the first time in Reds history, in a game prior to September 1, that 3 rookies
homered in the same game3 Reds rookies homered in the same game for the fourth time overall (Yonder Alonzo,
Juan Francisco & Frazier on 9/2/11 at StL; Ryan Freel, Tim Hummel & Wily Mo Pena on 9/1/03 at Mil; Leo Garcia,
Terry McGriff & Lloyd McClendon on 9/15/87 at Atl).
DOT, DOT, DOT....: LHP Bill Bray, on the disabled list since 4/24 with a strained left groin, has made a pair of rehab
apps for Class A Dayton (1-0, 0.00, 2ip, 0r, 1bb, 4k)...he is scheduled to pitch for Class AAA Louisville on Thu and
Fri...Louisville IF Chris Valaika today had arthroscopic surgery to repair the torn medial meniscus and torn anterior
cruciate ligament in his right knee (Dr. Timothy Kremchek)...he is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.
FOOD DRIVE: Wives of Reds players and volunteers from St. Vincent de Paul will collect food prior to tomorrow
night's game as part of the Strike Out Hunger program...fans who donate a minimum of 2 non-perishable food items
will receive a View Level ticket to the game on 7/30 vs SD...the barrels will be located outside the ballpark gates, so
fans dont need a ticket to tomorrow's game to donate and receive the free ticket to the 7/30 game.
START ME UP: The through first 59g of the season the Reds have used only 5 starting pitchers (Bronson Arroyo,
Homer Bailey, Johnny Cueto, Mat Latos, Mike Leake)...is the Reds' longest such streak to open a season since
1992, when in the 80th game of that schedule (7/6 at Cubs) Keith Brown became the staff's sixth starting pitcher
behind Jose Rijo, Tom Browing, Tim Belcher, Greg Swindell and Chris Hammond...the Marlins and Mariners are
the only other teams this season to use only 5 starting pitchers.
PLAYING SMALL: At least 1 home run has been hit in each of the last 56g at Great American Ball Park, dating back
to a homerless game vs the Giants on 7/29/11 (last 26g of 2011, all 30g in 2012)...it is the longest active ballpark
homer streak in the Major Leagues and the longest home run streak in GABP history (41g, 8/9/07-5/5/08, courtesy
Elias Sports Bureau)...there have been 60 homerless contests in the ballpark's 761 games...only twice in the park's
10-year existence has there been a streak of 2 straight games without a home run by either team (8/6-8/7, 2005 vs
Fla & 4/5-4/6, 2011 vs Hou)...there never has been a 3-game homerless stretch at GABP...earlier this season, there
were 29 home runs hit during the homestand from 5/21-5/27 (Reds 17, Braves 6, Rockies 6), a new GABP record for
HR during a homestand of 7 games or fewer and including a single-game record 9 homers in the finale (Col 5, Cin 4).

Baseball Hall of Fame during ceremonies on Sun, 7/22 in Cooperstown...media looking for housing should
