This project would result in the purchase and deployment of a tactical intervention vehicle (TIVI for the joint use of three poll.u agencies in the north end of the Alameda County 0perational Area: Albany Police, Berkeley Police and UC Berkeley Police. Due to the unique relationship between the Universify and these two cities, these three agencies have a history of mutual response to critical incidents. This proposal fills an identified gap in resources for this portion of the Operational Area. While other agencies in the Operational Area have TIVs available, due to the population density, frequency of use and the events that often happen concurrently, it is not often practical to request mutual aid assistance from these other asencies and their TIV's.

This project is part of an on-going initiative to improve the coordinated response and capabilities of the agencies in the North Alameda Countyregion. AIong with the coordinated MACTAC training recently approved for all three agencies, this vehicle will increase and enhance this partnership.
All three agencies will commit local funds for the on-going maintenance and support of the Armored Vehicle and the building for housing the vehicle. Electricity, fuel, mechanical maintenance and training are all items that will be paid for through local funds going forward.

In a CBRNE event, it is possible the suspects would still be in the area, waiting to ambush responders: the so-called "secondary device". The proposed armored rescue vehicle can be used to transport EOD techs. and their reconnaissance robots in and out ofan unsecure area
Two of the three agencies in this proposal have bomb squad capabilities within their agencies. Each of these teams has retnote controlled reconnaissance robots. Supporting these teams with an armored veliicle means the ability to transport the robot, the robot operator and the equiprnent with a security team. This would include the capability to transport into an unsecured area, thus maintaining the capability to "provide on scene threat assessment. "

This project will funcl an armored rescue vehicle that will provide and greatly enhanced capabilities for the agencies in the northern portion of the Alameda County 0perational Area.
