Pupils' school-grown fruit and veg is a hit with Waitrose customers

Greenfingered pupils sell their home-grown fruit and veg to store's customers! Barry Gem, 12/07/2012, p.19 On July 12, pupils from Vale will be selling produce grown in their school gardens at Waitrose, Barry. The project was successfully piloted by two London schools who sold their produce at their local Waitrose branch.

Pupils' produce is a hit at supermarket The Sheffield Star Series, 13/07/2012, p.18, Ellen Beardmore Pupils from Lydgate Infants School in Crosspool and Bents Green School grew a selection of seasonal vegetables on school grounds. They took their produce to sell outside Waitrose and sold out within hours. This is the first time the project, which is led by the supermarket and charity School Food Matters, had taken place outside London. Bury St Edmunds: Cream of pupils crops go on sale in Waitrose East Anglian Daily Times, 13/07/2012, Link Onions, potatoes, lettuces, strawberries and herbs - in fact the cream of the crop was all on show. Not that youd be surprised to see such fruit and vegetables in your average superstore. But the difference for Waitrose in Bury St Edmunds yesterday was this crop was all grown and sold by pupils from two west Suffolk schools.
