Electrical Engineer Responsibilities As an Electrical Engineer, youll provide expert advice on electrical issues in support of the design, construction

and commissioning activities of new or existing plant. Youll also: Perform scouting studies and feasibility studies to select electrical systems Set the standards for project specifications and contractors activities on electrical engineering Provide technical authority to approve vendors for inclusion in approved vendors lists Verify the design integrity of work carried out by engineering contractors to ensure that the proposed solutions are technically sound and meet operability and maintainability requirements Participate in the development of commissioning and start-up plans Support maintenance and operations staff, and participate in teams to troubleshoot customer issues.

Requirements With a BSc or MSc degree in electrical engineering, youll have substantial electrical (power) engineering experience gained in the oil and gas industry, together with previous experience of acting as a technical authority in the electrical discipline. Youll be familiar with international design codes and standards, and have the ability to prepare design, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and hand-over specification packages for new facilities. Well also require you to: Identify electrical power requirements and define an electrical system philosophy and network configuration Have a good working knowledge of defining and specifying main transmission and distribution systems Have a good working knowledge of specifying electrical drive and power systems, and heating, ventilating and lighting systems Have experience of developing commissioning and start-up plans, as well as operational and maintenance strategies Youll have a good working knowledge of electrical safety systems and procedures for the safe operation of complex high voltage distribution systems in Oil & Gas installations, with relevant site work experience..
