Physical Science Binder Guidelines

2012-2013

NO SPIRAL NOTEBOOKS CAN BE USED IN THIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!! A 2 inch, 3 ring binder must be used for this class this year. This class should be the ONLY subject found in your binder.
HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE IT? 1. COVER PAGE Place on the outside of your binder or as the first page in your 3 ring portion of your binder with a plastic slipcover. 2. GRADE LOG The most recent one should be the first one in your binder, after the cover page. You need to keep track of your daily grades. I will not be showing you the grade book constantly. 3. FIRST DIVIDER TITLED NOTES Keep your handwritten lecture/discussion notes in order of the date taken. They should read from earliest to most recent. Store about 40-50 pieces of lined notebook paper at the end of this section. 4. SECOND DIVIDER TITLED CLASSWORK You will keep the most recently graded classwork in this section. 5. THIRD DIVIDER TITLED HOMEWORK You will keep the most recently graded homework in this section 6. FOURTH DIVIDER TITLED STUDY GUIDES This is where you will place study guides, diagrams, extra powerpoints, etc.. that arent graded, but needed for study 7. FIFTH DIVIDER TITLED LAB REPORTS You will keep the most recently graded lab reports at the end of the section. 8. ZIPPER PENCIL POUCH- This is must be in your binder with the following items ONLY: 2 blue ink pens, 2 black ink pens, 2 pencils, 1 red ink pen, and a scientific calculator used ONLY in physical science class. GRADING OF BINDER: Binders will be checked 3 times throughout the 9-weeks as a homework grade. Each binder check is worth 20 points, so it will make up 60 points of your 9 weeks grade. Therefore, it is important that you have your binder in class EVERY SINGLE DAY! I will not give a grade for late binder submission. All work must be in the binders up to date and the pencil case must be present with ALL of the appropriate items inside or a grade of 0/30 will be given.
