Albany County Names First Female Deputy County Executive

Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy has appointed Christine Quinn as Deputy County Executive. She is the first woman Deputy County Executive to serve in Albany County. For too long, the voices of women in county government have gone undervalued and unrecognized. I am working to change that, said McCoy. Over the last seven months, I have seen what Christine has been able to accomplish in county government and she is the best person for the job. Shes a lawyer and has been serving as the Acting Commissioner of Human Resources. Quinn has been with Albany County since 2002, starting as a law clerk where she evaluated Albany County government to recommend and then implement the current HIPAA regulations. Shes been an Assistant County Attorney and became the first female Director of Employee Relations in 2008. Her work has included contract negotiations with organized labor as well as development of training modules for supervisory staff dealing with the public sector labor and employment arena and oversight and administration of employment litigation. I want to thank the County Executive for this opportunity, said Quinn. Dan McCoy has taken steps to diversify the workforce and create a structure that brings different values and opinions to the table. Im looking forward to working with the County Executive to bring county operations into the 21st century by Going Green, streamlining government and increasing efficiency. Quinns appointment is effective Friday, July 27th. ###
