23rd July 2012

Dear Member What a magnificent day it was last Thursday, 19th July 2012 when nearly all of our members took part in industrial action. My sincere thanks to you and your families, some of whom joined you on the picket lines. It is vitally important that we have a good turnout on the 26th July, please make this a family day. The shop stewards have been instructed to provide food, soft drinks and entertainment to make the day a success. We will reimburse any costs for making this a successful day. For your information we met with the solicitors on Friday 20th July. I had a very long meeting covering all aspects of the proposed closures in Remploy. We will now refer the cases of possible unfair dismissal to Queens Council. The Consortium is of the opinion that we should pursue individual unfair dismissal cases and the terms and conditions people will be included in any possible claims. We are also taking legal advice on the companys refusal to honour previous redundancy packages. If the legal advice is positive we will pursue individual legal cases against the company and will be asking individual trade union members to sign applications to allow us to go to Tribunal. We would ask all our members to make sure that their correct names and addresses are lodged with their appropriate Regional Offices.
Yours sincerely
