    2012 Points System Regulations

    As of 2012 the BTCC points system is on the change. The top 15 finishers will all each earn points. The top 15 independent racers will also score points towards the independent trophy. In previous years, only the top 10 finishers scored points. There will be additional points up for grabs too. 1 point for starting on Pole position. 1 point for fastest lap. If two drivers get fastest lap they will each be rewarded with a point. 1 point for leading the race. All drivers that lead the race will each get 1 point. Independent Drivers & Teams Trophies. Points for drivers are rewarded as per the outright Drivers Championship. Points for teams are rewarded to each teams highest placed finisher. Only as per the outright Drivers Championship points system. HIQ BTCC Teams Championship. Points are rewarded to each teams two highest finishing cars in each race. Points are rewarded as per Drivers Championship. BTCC Manufacturers/ Constructors Championship. Points are rewarded to a maximum of two cars per registered manufacture/constructor in each race. Each manufacture/constructor must nominate their two cars on qualifying day before 5pm.
