SUTTON 14 NOV 2011 RECYCLING

Tailgaters may not know it but by recycling used beer cans they are helping to raise money for the Stillwater Habitat for Humanity. Stanley Sutton has more on just how much money is raised.

-----VO GRAPHIC: OSU CAMPUS On a campus that is home to the sea of orange the color green is prominent on game day Saturdays like this. These green bags- located at various tailgates- are all part of the O-S-U Student Government Association Sustainability Committees attempt to promote recycling. Rachel Branch- the 20-10 S-G-A-S-C chairwoman- says proceeds from recycled cans are used for a good cost. ------SOT GRAPHIC: Rachel Branch, SGASC Chairwoman DURING THE 20-10 SEASON WE COLLECTED JUST OVER 34-HUNDRED POUNDS OF ALUMINUM AND THAT RAISED JUST OVER TWO-THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR HABITAT AND THAT GOES DIRECTLY TO THE HABITAT BRANCH IN STILLWATER. ------VO Branch says five-to-20 volunteers show up on game days to distribute the bags and help the campus ground crew pick up scattered cans. Students looking for community service hours- or just want to help make O-S-U a cleaner campus- can help work before and after this years Bedlam game. Volunteers will meet at 1 PM in front of the spirit rider statue on December 3rd.
