1.What is meant by mitosis?

Mitosis is a type of cell division which involves the division of the nucleus to produce two
daughter cells, each containing the same number and same kind of chromosomes as the parent
cell. There will be four daughter cell produced (diploid).

2. Draw the stages which prophase occurs. Describe the what happen to the chromosome?
-The chromatin is condensed. Nuclear membrane degraded and microtubules appear.

3. Name the stage where the chromosome align in a plate. Draw and label the stage.
-Metaphase Plate

4. What happen during Anaphase. Draw and label the stage of Anaphase.
-Sister chromatids splits and move to the opposite poles. Each chromatid is only linked to only
one pole.

5. At the end of Telophase, the cell will split. What is the term called for the strucrure that appear
in the animal and plant cell during these processes.
- In animal cell, the structure is called Cleavage Furrow. The cleavage furrow pinched at the
equator of the cell and splits into two daughter cell.
- In plant cell, the cell plate grow outwards until its edge fuse with the plasma membrane of the
parent cell.
