RICK SNUFFER

Rick Snuffer cannot be trusted to help put the nations financial affairs in order: he cant even handle his own. Snuffer has repeatedly ran up tens of thousands of dollars in credit card debt, and then didnt pay his bills. As of this summer, Snuffer is being sued by a third credit card company for defaulting on over $22,000 in credit card debt. At the same time, Snuffer holds embarrassing and extremist views. He claims that West Virginias third district is being punished by god for electing Rahall to Congress, and suggests that people who cant afford health insurance should be treated by unlicensed doctors.

Snuffer Unable to Handle Personal Finances

Snuffer Defaulted on Over $22,000 in Credit Card Debt. According to Charleston Gazette, The Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in the states 3rd Congressional District faces a legal complaint filed earlier this year for defaulting on more than $22,000 in credit card debt the third time in recent years he has faced such a complaint. Rick Snuffer, who is challenging Rep. Nick J. Rahall, D-W.Va., in the states 3rd Congressional District, defaulted on $22,564 in credit card debt to Capital One, according to the complaint in Raleigh Circuit Court. [Charleston Gazette, 7/8/12] Two Similar Credit Card Default Complaints Were Filed Against Snuffer. According to Charleston Gazette, Two similar legal complaints against Snuffer were filed in Raleigh Circuit Court in 2007: -On May 1, American Express Centurion Bank filed a legal complaint seeking to recover unpaid credit card debts of $12,040. -On November 1, CACH LLC filed a complaint seeking to recover $14,271 in unpaid credit card debts. Snuffer apparently settled both of those cases. He would not comment about those cases, or the complaint pending against him, when contacted by the Gazette-Mail. [Charleston Gazette, 7/8/12]

Snuffer Believed West Virginias Third District is Being Punished by God for Continuing to Send Rahall to Congress. According to Charleston Daily Mail Editorial, On a local radio talk show about 10 days ago, Snuffer said that he believes West Virginias Third District is being punished by God because it continues to send Rahall, who tends to be pro-Arab, to Congress while, Snuffer said, God favors Israel. So, in the words of Snuffer, God plays favorites in American elections and punishes those who dont vote correctly. [Charleston Daily Mail Editorial, 11/4/04]

Snuffer Said He Believed in the Literal Interpretation of the Bible. According to RegisterHerald, Another fatal bite by a rattlesnake in a West Virginia church ritual has led Senate President Jeffrey Kessler to call for the Legislature to outlaw the practice of handling venomous serpents in worship services. But some others serving in the Legislature feel this would intrude on one's constitutional guarantee to practice religion without government interference. [] Delegate Rick Snuffer, R-Raleigh, himself an ordained minister and former pastor, says the practice of using snakes as a proof of faith is based on a misunderstanding of Jesus words in the gospel of Mark. Jesus was talking about the type of situation when the Apostle Paul accidentally encountered a snake when he was bitten by the viper in Acts 28:1-6, the delegate said. I believe people who practice snake handling as part of their worship are sincere; they are just sincerely wrong in their interpretation of this (Mark) passage. I believe the Bible literally, but each Scripture must be interpreted in light of other Scriptures. Its true the Bible says God will give His angels charge over us so we wont dash our foot against a stone, but just like Jesus told Satan, it would have been tempting God for Him to have jumped from the roof of the temple and expect the angels to catch Him. Unless it is done for protecting snakes or making it unlawful to own, keep or capture poisonous snakes, Snuffer says the Legislature has no business attempting to regulate a religious practice. [Register-Herald, 6/2/12] Snuffer Believed American Public Has Not Been Told the Whole Truth About the Iraq War. According to Associated Press State & Local Wire, Snuffer is also a student of foreign affairs, and often consults non-mainstream sources that he says would serve him well in the Senate. Snuffer believes, for instance, that Iran will be able to launch an atomic weapon against Israel by October. He also suspects the American public has not been told the whole truth about the Iraq war. We almost immediately began fighting the Syrians, the Hezbollah, the Iranians. Theyve come in there trying to fight us, Snuffer said. Im not in favor of invading Iran or Syria, but I think we are going to have to do some targeted military strikes. [Associated Press State & Local Wire, 5/5/06] Snuffer Supported a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution. According to Associated Press State and Local Wire, When you cut taxes, government revenues actually increase, and West Virginia is the perfect example of that, Snuffer said. We have some of the highest taxes in the country, and one of the weakest economies. Snuffer is in favor of two amendments to the U.S. Constitution: one requiring a balanced budget, and another allowing the president to veto spending on individual programs, known as the line-item veto. On the federal level, spending is just out of control, by both parties, Snuffer said. Congress has not been able to discipline themselves, and sometimes neither has the president. [Associated Press State and Local Wire, 5/6/04] Snuffer Believed People Who Cant Afford Insurance Could be Treated by Unlicensed Doctors. According to Associated Press State and Local Wire, Snuffer believes there may always be people who cannot afford to pay for their own health care, regardless of how it is delivered. We could use our medical schools to develop a system similar to the (Department of) Veterans Affairs Hospitals, Snuffer said. People who opted for free treatment from medical schools would have to agree not to sue, Snuffer said. But if people who cant afford their own health care could go to the medical schools for treatment, instead of trying to close the Marshall University medical school, or Lewisburg, there would be a reason to keep them open. [Associated Press State and Local Wire, 5/6/04] Snuffer Believed God Intervened in the 2000 Presidential Election to Change History and the Course of this Nation. According to National Journals House Race Hotline, For his part, Snuffer told the gathering he felt God intervened in the 00 election. Snuffer: In the year 2000, I firmly believe that God used West Virginia to change the history and course of this nation (Porterfield, Beckley Register-Herald, 6/6).
