July 2, 2012 Dear Prospective Sponsor: The Coalition Against Bullying (CAB) and Crittenton Youth Services (CYS) is preparing for a 5K Bullying Prevention Walk to be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012. The events kickoff begins at Spanish Plaza. CAB and Crittenton are introducing the nationally recognized researched-based Olweus Bullying Prevention Program in Mobile County public, private, and parochial schools. The pilot schools include Alba, Burroughs, Gilliard, Indian Springs, Maryvale, Morningside, Pillans, Hankins, Scarborough, Semmes, Little Flower, and St. Pauls. Olweus is a prevention system that encompasses parents, school, community, and individuals. The program is known to increase the number of students who report bullying to adults at school; decrease the number of bullying incidents; promote better peer relationships; and coordinate all school staff members to be proactive and responsive to bullying in a consistent manner. This program forms a foundation for respect and a safer/controlled environment in school. We are looking for sponsors and teams. The levels of sponsorships are as follows: 1) Gold $500 or more and are recognized on the 5K Walk t-shirts; 2) Silver - $250+ but less than $499; and 3) Bronze - $100+ but less than $249. Silver and Bronze sponsors will be listed on the sponsor board at Spanish Plaza. For additional information on the 5K Walk, please call Joy Logan at 251/639-0004.
