Ever since the U.N. General Assembly recognized freedom of information as a fundamental human right in 1946, many nations started adopting laws assuring right to access information held by public authorities. So far more than 80 countries have enacted freedom of information laws.

Data Protection Law


The RTI Act is being used for both purposes, i.e. to obtain personal information as well as nonpersonal information

Environmental Right to Information Law


Environmental Right to information laws provide access to environmental information with fewer exceptions.

Private Sector
Public authority defined under sub-section (h) of section 2 should include: Organisations in the private sector, which exercise functions of a public nature

Whistleblower protection Law


A whistleblower is defined as someone who exposes wrongdoing, fraud, corruption or mismanagement. The law that a government enacts to protect such persons who help to expose corruption is called a whistleblower protection law.

Several countries have already put in place laws to protect whistleblowers or are in the process of doing so.
