I am happy to convey to you that the first phase of wifi initiation has been completed with the installation

of one Access Point. When you turn on your Wifi you will be able to see a network by the name 'IIMI-Hostel'. This is the Wifi N/W which has been setup. In order to access this network you will need 2 things 1. The WEP key which is "I0I7aMb4IofHs" case sensitive. Please keep this key confidential or dont disclose it to outsiders. 2. The network is accessible only on the proxy 192.168.15.3:8000 after authentication. The authentication required will be the login 'participants\' and your CC lab password. This system will be moved to MAC address based filtering since the proxy gives lots of problems to a lot of us while accessing. Please do note that since this is an externally established antenna system, you will find the signal better or visible mostly in open areas and outside your room. In case if you are trying to check the signal in your room, please try near the windows with a visibility of the library. Further we would urge you to use your network ports while inside your room since the speed available on wifi will be limited and will be shared. This is the first phase of the implementation, we are working on a better quality and better coverage of the hostel blocks. Please note, right now the coverage will be available only in the hostel areas and ER2 and academic blocks will be covered in the next phase. We will be conducting a single point assistance camp to help people who are facing issues with accessing the wifi soon. Keep checking your mails for the same.
